Dear friends,
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2016. Love is revealed to the world. Peace on earth and in the heart of mankind.
We are grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the activity of children learning community throughout 2015.
In the beginning of the month, on Wednesday, 9 December 2015, big sister Lianna and Joe visited Cakung’s facility to celebrate the coming of Christmas with the children.
Children were very happy to meet their guests. The children and guests introduced each other, had small talked and ate lunch together. The children also received their early Christmas gifts which distributed before lunch.
The small learning house was packed with children. After gathering, we took pictures together at the nearby vacant yard where the guest’s car parked. .
We were very grateful for the loving care and visiting of big sister Lianna, Joe and friends. May God bless you with good health and abundant blessings.
On Saturday, 12 December 2015, we reviewed the children’s third quarter performance in all categories. Some Cakung’s students, who recently participated with this program, starting in October to December 2015, were not subjected to this review.
We parted the children into two groups. For those who participate in the review, we placed them in the upper floor of the facility. And for non-review participants, we placed them in the ground floor.
The review was conducted in a few hours. We ended the review with the announcement of the best score students in academic and attitude toward learning.
The children were excited to hear the announcement. The best student in each category got their prizes. After that, for all their effort this quarter, each child got school stationary as their present.
With gratitude, we lifted up our prayer for the blessing of all our activities in 2015. We also prayed to commemorate the birthday of late big sister Sarah Laftavi on 1 December and late big sister Chichie on 6 December.
We distributed some snacks, milk, fruits, candies, crackers to all the children. We thanked the Laftavis who donated those snacks and goodies through the Tonteys.
The fighting spirit and memory of big sister Sarah and Chichie will live on and give the children’s strength to pursue their dream.
On Saturday, 12 December 2015, after finishing the children’s review, we officially closed the Cakung’s facility for holiday. The Sarang Tupai’s facility was closed for holiday on the following Monday, 14 December 2015.
For the facilitators and volunteers, we still met for the curriculum review. For Cakung’s facility, we met on Friday, 18 December and Saturday, 19 December 2015. For the Sarang Tupai, we met on Tuesday, 22 December 2015. Because it was not easy to find common time to meet, we forced to meet separately in a different time.
We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, learning tools and place for this children learning community program. We thank Jaka, Ms. Sutini, Ester, big sister Vera, big brother Bosco, big brother Frances in Cakung and big sister Ivonne, Novi, Cantik and Pagi in Sarang Tupai, Megamendung, Ciawi.
Throughout the month, we had a few of nutrition improvement activities. They all ran well.
In the beginning of the month, the Sarang Tupai’s children enjoyed their healthy diet, green bean porridge with slice of bread and in the following week, they had Singapore style fried rice with vegetable, sausage and meatball.
The donation of powder milk helped the children grow more with their milk intake. They enjoyed mixing the powder milk with chocolate and drank them with crackers. Often, we served warm milk during the rainy day.
In Cakung, the children enjoyed avocado juice and Malang’s apple on the following week. These fruits were donated by the Laftavis through the Tonteys in part of commemoration of late big sister Sarah Laftavi’s birthday.
We are very thankful for the fruits and other donations. We hope that our effort together will grow further.
At the end, we thank facilitators, the Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s nutritional improvement program coordinators and the family of big sister Ivonne who helped serving healthy food to the children.
Most of the school ended their learning term in the middle of December 2015. Some Cakung’s scholarship recipients received their report cards right away, but a few Cakung’s and all Sarang Tupai’s recipients received them on Saturday, 19 December 2015.
The expenditure throughout December 2015 include lesson material’s photocopies, internet fee, printer ink, external USB, monthly school fee, school transportation, and English tutor fee.
We thank all our friends who continuously support this scholarship program. Your support bring tremendous blessing to these children. The education that they receive now is their provision for their future.
