We are grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the activity of children learning community throughout February 2016.
In the beginning of February, on Monday, the 1st of February 2016, the students, teachers and faculties of Sinar Mas World Academy visited children learning community. The faculties, Mr. Beny and Mr. Michael, brought us some Christmas gifts which later distributed to the children.
The children were happily singing and socializing with their guests. At the end of the visit, they took group pictures with the children. The children shook their guest’s hands and gratefully expressed their thank you for their kind attention.
Because that visitation day was not a learning day, some children were not able to meet their guests directly. After our guest left, we distributed all the cookies and milk to the children. The children were excited to receive the food.
On Wednesday, on the 3rd February 2016, big sister Lucy and Debby got a chance to meet Dr. Frans Senff who was visiting Jakarta and meet Sr. Annuciata, OSU in Santa Maria convent, Juanda. We had lunch together with big sister Ningrum, the relative of Dr. Frans.
We thank Dr. Frans Senff for his long time attention and support in our program. May The Lord bless his works in Africans’ nation and also in Indonesia.
On Monday, at the 11th of February 2016, some personnel from the MAGIS community did their live in program by staying with us in Cakung. We hope that the experience of living along with Cakung’s community will open their heart to be compassionate toward others. We also hope that our relationship will continue further for similar program ahead.
On Thursday, the 25th of February 2016, the Sarang Tupai community, Ciawi had visitors from Belgium who was accompanied by, big sister Inonk and her friend big sister Uun. The children were very excited showing their ability to do Acehness dance, traditional martial art, Pencak Silat and singing.
On that day, the family of big sister Ivonne prepared beef ball noodle soup. Together, we all enjoyed delicious beef ball noodle soup.
Big sister Inonk and Uun went home after group pictures. We thanked them for the attention and support through Gemeente Oostkamp and Children First.
May the Lord keep you safe. We pray that your effort will be a great blessing to others.
Big sister Inonk encouraged the children to interact in English. Since then, the children were motivated to improve their English. They wanted to be smart and be better in English.
The children were also perfecting their craft’s skill, making bags and canteen holders out of recycle coffee bags. These days, they learn to make coasters, bowl holders and wallets.
The learning activity in Cakung & Sarang Tupai ran well. Since the beginning of 2016, we accepted many new students in all categories.
As usual, in the beginning of the month, we reviewed the Cakung and the Sarang Tupai children’s attendance, learning spirit and their saving habit. In order to boost their moral, we rewarded the children who did well.
We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this children learning program. We thank Jaka, big sister Indri, big brother Bosco and Frances in Cakung. We also thank big sister Ivonne, Novi, Cantik and Pagi in Sarang Tupai, Megamendung, Ciawi.
For the last few weeks, the Cakung’s children enjoyed their donation meal from the students and faculty of Sinar Mas World Academy. Children were eating milk and cookies as part of their healthy diet. During a few learning sessions, we also served this healthy diet to Sarang Tupai’s children.
Throughout February 2016, we served snake fruit, rambutan and guava as their healthy diet. In addition, children were also enjoying milk and cookies.
Finally, we also thank the facilitators, the Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s nutritional improvement coordinators and the family of big sister Ivonne who helped preparing and serving this healthy menu.
We also received reading books donation from the family of Ms. Yuli, Bekasi for our library collection. We took some of the donation books for the children of Sarang Tupai. In addition, we also received some recycle coffee bags from big sister Lucy.
The school expenses throughout February include lesson photocopies, internet fee, monthly school fee and transportation fee for going to school and to the out of school extracurricular activities.
March Action Plan:
1. Learning Activity
a. Easter Holiday on the 4th week of March. All learning activity will be off that week.
b. In Sarang Tupai, we plan to do children craft activity once a week, separate time from the learning period.
2. Child Nutrition Improvement Activity
a. Preparing healthy menu and purchase needed cooking utensils.
3. Scholarship
a. Fulfilling school needs for all the recipients.
At the end, we thank many of our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and learning tools. This month learning activity ran well because of your support.
We are deeply touched by many of our donors’ generosity. They prioritized others than themselves. We truly appreciate your trust in our efforts.
We thank for donation of staple food and stationery from the students and faculties of Sinar Mas World Academy. We also thank the family of Ms. Yuli for reading books’ donation and big sister Lucy for recycle coffee bag’s donation.
We express many thanks to all of our generous donors for your financial commitment in supporting the operation of this learning program. We thank Ms. Jeanny, Mrs Djiauw Swie Tjing, big sister Elissa Meiliana Wiguna, big sister Sofia Erlinda Indra, Mrs MA Nani Tirtajaya, Mrs. Hanaria Putri, Dr. Frans Senff and the family of Mr. Wilfridus Leba.
