Progress Report of Children Learning Community in September 2014

Dear friends,

In September 2014, the learning activities ran well. The children, the team and I are so grateful for your prayer and support.

On the 2nd week of September 2014, to be exact on Saturday, September 13th, 2014, we held the outdoor activity with the theme ‘Sightseeing in the centre of Jakarta by City Tour bus and Commuter train’. On that day, for most of the children and their parents were the first time for them using those transportations. The rest point was in Monas park. The activity is followed by 75 children and parents, accompanied by some facilitators. It is held to fulfill the learning activity every Saturday.

In the morning, the children already gathered in the learning house. We went to Kranji railway station renting some public transportation. It was just 7 AM, the passengers already fill almost all seat on the train. We turned out at the Juanda railway station and take a rest for a while, then walked across the street to Istiqlal bus shelter waiting the City Tour bus.

The children were enjoy following the activity, riding City Tour bus with almost full seated by them and with the tour guide who was very helpful in explaining the buildings and the roads which passed by. We turned out to take a rest at Monas park.

We enjoy our meal together and had many rice fried chicken packages from Ms. Arry Fitriana and her friends in Kentucky Fried Chicken. Wow, it’s the most exciting experience, enjoying the tasty food and riding the great transportations!

After that, the children were ready visiting Monas statue. The children of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd categories walked together accompanied by Ms.Qori’ah and Ms.Uju. The children of the 0 category are accompanied by Ms. Indri and the mothers walked together to the shelter near Monas statue waiting the mini trem which riding around Monas area. Unfortunately, there’s no mini trem, because Monas area is prepared for the public festivity in the evening so it didn’t operate.

The children of 0 category were back to the venue and just playing around the park waiting the others to gather.
About 2 PM, when all the children gathered, we were taking pictures for a while and walked to the bus shelter nearby. Before that, we cleaned the venue helping by some of the cleaning server in the area. We rode City Tour bus to Juanda railway station.

It’s not easy to take City Tour bus in the afternoon, so we divided ourselves in three groups. The first group with Ms. Indri arrived at the railway station and directly bought tickets waiting other groups. Soon after all group gathered, the Commuter train to Cakung was coming and we got it directly. In Cakung railway station, we rest for a while waiting the facilitators took some rented public transportation. We were back home and arrived around 4.30 PM at the learning house. The children were very happy enjoying the outdoor activity on that day.

A day after, on Sunday evening, September 14th, 2014, we had many secondhand clothes and households from Ms. Linda Kurnia, Mrs. Susan, and Mrs. Meilina. We opened and sort all the stuff immediately. We packed up almost all of them for the fire victim in Jambul, Cililitan, East Jakarta who had the tragic disaster on Saturday night.
