Progress Report of Children Learning Community in April 2019

Dear friends,

Wishing all the Christians, the best of three holy days, Maundy Thursday, Holy Friday and Ressrurection Sunday 2019

  

By celebrating the resurrection of Christ, we will refresh our faith. The experience of God’s great love and compassion rekindle back the spirit of dedication toward humanity.   

    

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community throughout April 2019. Children Learning Community activities at Cakung, Sarang Tupai, Ciawi and Muara Tawar ran smoothly.

  

In April 2019, children experienced several days off. There were an election day on Wednesday at the 17^th of April 2019 and Easter holidays which fell on Friday the 19^th and Saturday the 20^th of April 2019.

In the beginning of April 2019, we visited a Sarang Tupai’s child who was due for digestive surgery at RSCM, the nation’s most advance state hospital in central Jakarta.   

Ragil’s family put a lot of effort to put their son in this hospital. They went to a lot of red tapes with state health care, BPJS, before getting Ragil in. We are grateful to God for his blessing to this family.  

Two years ago, Ragil had similar procedure at local hospital which only equipped with basic surgical equipments.

After two weeks waiting periode, finally Ragil was given a go for surgery at RSCM. It was a successful surgery. 

Ragil asked for days off from school. He spent almost 1 month for preparation and recuperation. During this time, his loving mother was relentlessly accompanied him at home and at the hospital.  

Ragil is a very active kid. He likes to study and played soccer after learning session.  With his friends at Ciawi learning home’s yard, he played soccer match even with the secretion’s bag attached. 

We are grateful for Ragil’s speedy recovery. We hope to see him back.

At the end of April 2019, we reviewed all children who are actively learned at Cakung, Ciawi and Muara Tawar. 

We reviewed the children on all given subjects that they have learned.

Facilitators were not only reviewed the little children on formal learning skill such as dictation, reading and counting, but children were also reviewed but in self confidence. Children were asked to perform in front of audience, introduce themselves and sing.

Teenagers will be reviewed on general knowledge, English, counting and others basic learning materials. Review in the subject of Bahasa Indonesia, the national language, Children was asked to do movie review. We showed them a short movie with theme about the pros and cons of mobile phone.  

  

Ciawi’s and Muara Tawar’s children were reviewed in general knowledge, English and counting. In civics, they also asked to write down national anthem and Pancasila, the nation five pillars.

After review, each student was given a pencil, rubber eraser, color pensil and coloring book as token of appreciation for their participation.  

We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program.

In April 2019, we prepared delicious and healthy food for the children such as papaya, jack fruit, cookies, beef ball noodle soup. Children also enjoyed some of vegetables who were coming from community’s farm. 

  

With a little money we have, we were grateful to accommodate all the expenses for food and facilitators’ compensation.

We thank Sr. Annunciata, OSU for cookies donations.

We expressed our gratitude to facilitators and the community of Cakung, Sarang Tupai and Muara Tawar who helped us with healthy foods this month.

This month, we fulfilled scholarship recipients’ need such as monthly school fees, school transportation, school supplies and monthly school activity.  

We thank loyal donors who relentlessly providing us with scholarship assistance. Your support is valuable for these children’s future.

We ask many friends to keep their faith in our works caring for the children and community.

Everyone involved in learning community felt the budget strain. To fulfill the 2019’s budget gap and with the help of skill’s facilitators, the teenagers and community’s mothers made onion cheese stick, sautéed peanuts, pao bao and steam sticky rice for sale.

In April 2019, they earn a total profit of 1.147,000 IDR. We thank them for that.

Your kind attentions and various types of supports have strengthened us to carry on this duties and services to the children.

May 2019 Plan:

1.                Learning Activity

a.   Regular learning and skill activities at Cakung, Sarang Tupai and Muara Tawar. To accommodate the majority of moeslems students who are fasting, therefore learning activity will be started an hour earlier with the usual learning period. This will given time to students to prepare themselves for breakfasting.

b.   In the beginning of May, students at all facilities will receive their review.

c.   Fulfill Cakung’s, Ciawi’s and Muara Tawar’s facility and learning needs.

2.                Scholarship

a.   Fulfilling school needs for recipients in Elementary, Middle and Vocational High School level.

3.                Staple Needs Cooperative Effort

Out of stock items will be purchased in the beginning of May 2019.
