On August 16, 2009, children of Cakung garbage dump area went to Ragunan Zoo for study tour. Rikah & Qoriah picked up kids while I waited for them at busway terminal, Pulo Gadung. About 9 AM, they arrived at Pulo Gadung. I was in charge to buy tickets. The official was confused because so many children in our group. I have to buy 10 tickets. There were 9 kids, 3 mothers, & 3 facilitators. We went by TransJakarta bus route Pulo Gadung – Dukuh Atas.
We arrived at Ragunan Zoo at 11 AM. Soon I’ah bought tickets. The situation was so noisy because today is a holiday. After I’ah bought tickets in queue, we entered directly. Because of the long journey, we take a rest first & eat our lunch together. After that, children begin their study tour around Ragunan Zoo. Children have some task to do. Children who were able to read & write have to write the animals & their characteristics. Children were so enthusiastic to notice the animals but so lazy to write down their characteristics although children still tried to do their task. We saw many animals there, such as raindeers, kinds of birds, monkey, orang utan, bear, crocodile & some more. Because of Ragunan Zoo is so big, we haven’t seen yet some animals. The journey was so exhausted. About 1 PM, we started to find an area to hold competition. They are bite spoon with marble inside, eat banana in pair & eat big crispy. Children were so happy.
About 3 PM, when we went to elephant & giraffe area, two mothers decided to buy something for their family. We separated into two groups; mothers & children. We accompanied children went around Ragunan Zoo while mothers went shopping. After a while, we took a rest near shopping area. Some kids wanted to buy dolls while others just eat the supply. About 4 PM, we decided to back home by TransJakarta bus. The line was too long because it’s the usual time for many people back home. At last, we took a bus. The bus was full of people around the journey. Fortunately, mothers & kids have their seat. We accompanied them to their home. After that, we back home directly because the day become dark. Today is truly an exhausted journey although children looks so happy.
