The experience of the Double Education Systems (PSG)

By Indri

On Monday, 14th February 2011, I began PSG at the PT Parit Padang Global Group Soho which located at Jl. Rawa Sumur II Kav. BB no.3, Pulo Gadung Industrial Estate, Jakarta 13930, Indonesia. The PT Parit Padang Global is a medicines distribution company of the PT Soho Pharmaceutical Industry.

I was doing the PSG activity for 2.5 months until 30th April 2011.

At the start of the PSG, I was getting ready from 6am to go with a friend. We had to take a public transport and transfer to another one. We arrive at 7:15am. The office was still closed and quiet. We waited in the waiting room. When the office hours started, we were called to the first floor.

On the first floor we were seen individually to be told where they would place us. My friend and I were placed in different rooms and work divisions. I was in the finance room, IBR division which was an invoices settlement area.

In the finance room I was introduced to the staff. On the first day of working there I felt very alienate because it was the first time for me to be in the manufacturing and office areas. I also felt uncomfortable because of the job.

I was helping the finance staff to find the credit invoice and to input the data. My working hour ended at 5pm. I arrived at home at around 6:30pm.

After a week there I went to the office at 6:30am. At noon I had lunch together with PSG friends in the canteen. My daily activities in the office was to do data entry, to find the invoices for settlement, to produce the documents for each branch, to file invoices data, credit notes and to send part of the document to the tax department.

I was doing the PSG programme every working day, Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday I was off, but every Saturday I had to go to school to receive the task from my teachers and to hand in the task from the previous week. Every Saturday after school, as usual I attended the learning activity at the venue of Cakung Children Community.

I was glad to participate in the PSG programme at PT Parit Padang Global Group Soho because I was placed according to my ability and my major at school, which was accountancy. Even though the office was quite far, I was happy because the staff was very friendly and very good to me and friends.
