When I was sick
By Riska
On Tuesday, 8 March 2011, I had fever. It had been several days I had high temperature. The next day, I was delivered to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital and had to stay at the hospital.
I was hospitalized for a week then I was allowed to go home. At home, I had to rest for a whole day before attending school again.
A week after that, Mom and I went to the hospital for checking up. The nurse took sample of my blood and then I was advised to wait for the result in Thallasemia Room. A few hours after that, the doctor called us. Mom immediately asked,” How’s Riska hemoglobin, Doc?” “Riska’s HB is 6.6 therefore, she needs to have blood transfusion, “ Doctor answered. My Mom said,”Alright, Doc.”
We then went to Blood Bank to register myself so I would be able to have the blood transfusion soon. After that, we went home.
The next day, Mom and I went to the hospital again. Mom went to Cross Red to take the blood. After that, I went to the transfusion room for blood transfusion. After transfusion, we went home and would need to visit the hospital again the next day for doctor consultation.
This hospital visit and blood transfusion becomes my monthly routine. I usually do consultation with Doctor on Wednesdays. Being sick is really an unpleasant experience for me.
