We wish you a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2017.
Love is revealed to
the world. May peace fills the earth and in the heart of mankind.
We are grateful to God and to our loyal friends who
support the activity of children learning community in Cakung and in Sarang
Tupai, Ciawi. The activities ran smoothly throughout December 2016.
In Sarang Tupai, the
activities are conducted in two separate locations. Every Monday, we conducted
the activity at the villa’s yard and terrace. With the kindness of villa’s
owner, we can use this property. The villa attendant, a friend of us, got the
permission from the owner for us. And
every Thursday, we use the terrace of Mrs. Ivon’s home.
The end of year break started
on the first week of December 2016. We closed the year with the third quarter
review.
In Cakung, the
lesson review was conducted on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Meanwhile, in Sarang
Tupai, the review has already begun at the end of November 2016.
Although, we have
ended the learning activity, but the children still came to the learning center
for singing rehearsal. The children were preparing to perform in Christmas
event on the 25th of December 2016. The Single Mother Community
invited the children for Christmas’ lunch and celebration at Santa Maria Fatima
Junior High School in Jatinegara, East Jakarta
The children
rehearsed every Friday and Saturday. In December 2016, they practiced routinely
until a day before Christmas.
In Sunday,
December 18, 2016, the facilitators also reviewed the curriculum at the house
of big brother Frances and Bosco.
The review started
at 10.30 am and finished at 2.30 pm. All the facilitators attended the review
except Dino’s mom. She was still in mourning due to the loss of her beloved
husband on Saturday, December 17, 2016. She lost her husband right after her
time with the children in learning facility that day.
We felt the loss
and accompanied her at her home that day. We prayed for her husband’s peaceful
soul in his final resting place. May God grant him forgiveness.
In the morning of
Christmas Day, December 25, 2016, the children gathered at the learning center for
Christmas program at Santa Maria Fatima High School in Jatinegara, East
Jakarta.
The program started
at 10 am. The children were very entertained with the program. They were
dancing, singing and doing the exciting games. They were accompanied by big brothers
and sisters. There were also many presents for them.
Children were
happy enjoying the program and Christmas’ lunch together.
While eating, the program’s host entertained the children with a few songs.
And after lunch, the children also sang a couple songs to the
audience. They sang the songs that have been prepared and rehearsed.
There was also
Santa Claus who came with the program host bringing presents to the children.
Children were getting their present after finishing their ice cream.
Children got dolls
and presents from Santa. They got what their wish for. Children were very happy
that day. We ended the program with all of us taking picture together.
We thank the
program host from Single Mother Community and the Sisterhood of Good Shepherd,
Jatinegara.
In the last week
of December 2016, the facilitators cleaned up the Cakung’s house. Meanwhile, in
Sarang Tupai, at the villa where Ardi’s mom work, the facilitators reviewed
both Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s curriculum. The reviewed started in the
morning until late in the afternoon.
We thank
facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their
time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program. We thank Jaka, Intan, Yana, Mama
Dino, Indri in Cakung and big sister Ivonne, Mrs. Vera, Mrs.Lanny, Jagad’s mom, Mrs Ruth in Sarang Tupai, Megamendung, Ciawi.
We thank also the
community of Ursulin Sisterhood Juanda for seven post office bags of clothing
donations and routine coffee packs donation for our craft activity. We thank Sr. Irena H, OSU for donation of a bag of five kg rice. We also thank Ms.Erta for donation of
earrings and necklaces.
This month, we spend the
scholarship’s expenditure on monthly school fees and school’s transportation. We
also provided fund on final year examination fee, exam simulation fee and other
fees to complete a Cakung Vocational High School student’s final year
prerequisite.
We are grateful to our friends
who continuously provide their financial support for this scholarship program.
This scholarship’s support is extremely valuable for the children’s future.
On the first week of December, for both Cakung’s and
Sarang Tupai’s children, we prepared cups of corn bits with condense milk and
cheddar cheese on top. We also prepared fried fermented cassava. During
Saturday’s rehearsal, we prepared cookies and ice jack fruit. Children enjoyed
them after practicing a few songs and introducing themselves to the audience.
We also express our gratitude
to the facilitators and the neighborhood of Cakung and Sarang Tupai who help us
in preparing the healthy dish throughout December 2016.
