Progress Report of Children Learning Community in October 2016

Dear friends,

The Children Learning Community is very grateful for your supports and prayers. All activities in Cakung and Sarang Tupai ran smoothly throughout the month of October 2016.

Mr. Hendra taught Sarang Tupai’s children to weave. Children weave palm leaves into diamond shape container for steam rice dish. Mr. Hendra is one of the parents of Sarang Tupai’s scholarship’s recipient.

To sharpen this skill, children need a lot of practices. They use various color of ribbons instead of real palm leaves.
Big brother Ondo and Ziya also gave the category IV Cakung’s children lesson in guitar.

We thank big sister Novita and friends for providing the children with guitar, strings and guitar picks. Children enjoy music as one of our learning activity.

We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program. We thank Jaka, Ester, Ondo, big brother Bosco, big brother Frances and Ziya in Cakung. We also thank big sister Ivonne, Mrs. Vera, Mr. Hendra and Mrs. Lanny in Sarang Tupai.

We thank Mrs. Yuli and Mr. Husin for bringing their book donations. Their donations enriched Cakung’s library collection and reading activity.

This month scholarship’s expenditures included regular monthly school fee; transportation allowance for a Vocational High School student who do his internship; paying the reregistration’s and activity fee’s installment of a Middle School student.

Just a week ago, we bumped into a long time Cakung’s child. No longer in school, Anita comes back to Jakarta from her village following her parents who works as an urban farmer in Cakung. Anita was one of our dedicated students, who regularly attended learning program since the starting of Cakung’s center, back in 2006. At her school, she was also recognized as a smart and talented student.

These days, we try to have Anita back in school. We understand, she wants to go to regular High School, but we also advise her to be realistic in her goal. Therefore, we urge Anita to try for Vocational High School.

We are grateful to our friends who continuously provide their financial support for this scholarship program. This scholarship’s support is extremely valuable for the children’s future.

We also prepared healthy food for both Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children. Children enjoyed chocolate pudding, orange juice ice, snacks and regular milk consumption. Children also received donation of individual milk cartoon from friends at Single Parent Community.

Once again, we thank the mothers of Single Parents Community for their donation of snacks, candies and milk. Together, we can continue to assist these children.

We also express our gratitude to the facilitators and the neighborhood of Cakung and Sarang Tupai who help us in preparing the healthy dish throughout October 2016.

November 2016 Plan :

1. Learning Activity:
a. Learning and mentoring in both Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s facility.
b. We will review our activity at the end of November for both Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s learning center.

2. Child Nutrition Improvement

a. Preparing nutritious menu and purchase needed cooking utensils.

3. Scholarship
a. Fulfilling school needs for recipients.

At the end, we thank many of our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials. This month learning activity ran well because of your support.

We are deeply touched by many of our donors’ generosity. They prioritized others than themselves. We truly appreciate your trust in our efforts.

We thank many of our friends who help us with the facility house rent. Since August until the end of October 2016, we have raised money to fulfill the 33 million IDR’s three years rent.

We thank Dr. Frans S.; Mrs. Danik; St. Mary School which let us raised fund in their bazaar activity; the alumni of St. Ursula High School who raised fund through collection during their catholic mass activity; Ms. Daisy S.Ningtyas; Mr. Herman Yoseph; Mrs. Ann and friends.

We are grateful for your help and support. May The Lord provide you with financial blessings and good health.
