Progress Report of Children Learning Community in January 2019

Dear friends,

We are grateful for many blessings in 2018. With new hope and spirit we walk into 2019.

We were also grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported children learning community activities in Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi all these years.

We held a cooperative meeting on the first week of January 2019. All cooperative members attended this meeting.

On this first meeting at 2019, we reported the cooperative activity, profit and distribution of dividend. We also discussed regulation that needs to be renewed.

The cooperative added a new member. Some of existing member invested more into cooperative.

Children learning community was also grateful for this cooperative. The dividend from the investment helped some operational expenses of learning community.

Children learning community received 2.414.600 IDR for its investment this year.

We are grateful for trust and tenacity of members to develop this cooperative effort.

We thank donors for their financial support for children learning community to invest in cooperative.

Throughout January 2019, Cakung’s and Ciawi’s area experienced daily downpour. Some children were not able to come but some children were wiling enough to attend learning session.

                                                                                             

Learning session in Cakung and Ciawi started back at the second week of January 2019.

Cakung’s children who did their review back on last December 2018 were getting school supplies and stationeries.

Saturday is the day for nutritious improvement. Before, we just went our usual ways. These days, we show the children a short educational animation film, before eating. 

We hope that children can take something out of this short movie. They can pick out some moral issues and apply good deeds in their lives.

We asked the children to discuss the movie. Excitingly, children told back the movie story and gave their opinion about the subject.

At the end the children encouraged to state good things that they took out of the movie. Facilitators gave last words of advice to them. 

At the third week of January 2019, we started our hand craft activity in Cakung with quelling paper products. The community was making valentine’s cards.

After learning, Sarang Tupai’s children played soccer in the yard, while we prepared their meal.

We hope in a future, children can utilize this large yard to play other sports such as badminton and volley ball.

For that reason, we need to prepare badminton’s and volley ball’s equipment.

We hope for donations of these equipments.

We thanked facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who gave their time, efforts, finances and facility for this learning program.

At the end of 2018, we have been invited by “RW’s leader”, the community leader in Muara Tawar Village to start a learning center there. The “RW” is a relative of one of Cakung’s community.

In the beginning of January 2019, we visited Muara Tawar. Muara Tawar is a fisherman village, in Bekasi which sit next to Marunda, north Jakarta.

There is a renovated Elementary school in Muara Tawar. The school was renovated by en electric power company nearby through its CSR program. 

Since there is no public transportation to reach the distance middle school, the students have to use their family motorbike or use a motorbike taxi to reach school.   

We started our activity in Muara Tawar Village at the end of January 2019.

The “RW”, community leader, prepared a shade in front of his home. This shade is situated on top of canal where community ties their boats.

The shade is used for meeting with other community leader and also for “posyandu”, children’s health service.

There are handful elementary school children in community.

We had 27 children attended our first appearance. They were range from 3 to 12 years old.

After learning session, community leader asked us to talk about learning desk and class rooms. They wanted to see children learn comfortably.

They offered us to use several spaces such as house terrace of “RW” leader, the community leader and also some empty shades closed to main shade.

We keep hope for our dear friends’ support. We will need a lot of helps at this new learning center.

Throughout January 2019, we prepared various healthy fruits such as snake fruit, local ”duku” fruit, jackfruit and rambutan for Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children.

We prepared those fruits because of their seasons in December 2018 and January 2019.

We also prepared rice noodle with peanut butter sauce; warm palm sugar coconut milk with steam banana and steam toothless gum fruit; hot chocolate and cookies; and hamburgers.

 

We also expressed facilitators and the community of Cakung and Sarang Tupai who helped us with healthy dishes throughout January 2019.

In the month of January, we fulfilled scholarship recipients’ need such as monthly school fees, school transportation, school supplies and monthly school activity.  

 

We thank the loyal donor who relentlessly providing us with scholarship assistance. Your support is valuable for these children’s future.

We ask many of our loyal friends to participate for the sake of children and community.

Your attention and support drive us to further this mission and service.

February 2019 Plan:

1.                Learning Activity

a.   Cakung’s children visited museum at the second week of February 2019.

b.   Regular learning and skill activity at Cakung and Sarang Tupai.

c.   Fulfill the facility’s need and learning equipment for Muara Tawar’s children.

2.                Scholarship

a.   Fulfilling school needs for recipients in Elementary, Middle and Vocational High School level.

3.                Staple Needs Cooperative Effort

Purchase out of stock items.

We are grateful to our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials for this month.

We are deeply touched by many of our donors’ generosity who put others before themselves. We truly appreciate your trust in our effort.
