On March 2013, the alternative education of Children Learning Community could run well, thanks to your prayer and support.
On the 2nd Tuesday of March, the children at Cakung field area have vacation due to the Caka New Year 1935 holiday.
On the last week of March, the children at Cakung and Muara Baru have vacation due to Easter holiday.
On the early March, on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 to be exact, we had an invitation of music theatrical performance of Sanggar Akar at Kuningan, South Jakarta. Some children have permission from their parents to come to the event and allow to spend the night at the learning house. The event started from 8 PM to 10 PM.
On Saturday morning, March 9th, 2013, Aiko & her family visited the learning house and introduce with some children in the learning house. They brought some stationeries and food. After small talks to the children, we talked about the activities at the learning house. On midday, Aiko & her parents went home.
After Aiko & her parents visiting, Mr. Kuncoro & his family visited us. It’s his first time since 2008, he visited the children with his friends. He brought lunchboxes as his blessing for the 1st year birthday of his son, Kenan. We enjoyed the lunch together, the children performed some songs and dance before eating. After that, the children started to learn. Mr. Kuncoro & his family accompanied them until break time.
We thank so much for Aiko & her family visiting & supporting, also for Mr. Kuncoro & the family. We hope Kenan could grow healthy and brightly to become a good boy for his parents and his environments.
On Saturday, March 16th, 2013, we had visited by Dr. Frans Senff, who was on his vacation with his family in Indonesia and spend time to meet us at the learning house.
After midday, on the break time, we welcomed him. Since few years ago, Dr. Frans is so faithful to support the children learning activities. We introduced each other, the children sang some songs and dance. We enjoyed the healthy menu together. Dr. Frans saw the learning house and talked to some children. Before he came home, the children take some biscuits & milk from him.
We are so thankful for Dr. Frans Senff’ attention and support. We hope the collaboration will continue.
Alternative Learning Activities
a. Cakung Children Community
On March 2013, the alternative education of Children Learning Community could run well. There were 5 new children participants in this month. One is in the 0 category, one is in the 2nd category, and three are in the 3rd category.
On the last Friday and Saturday of March 2013, the learning activities were off due to the Easter holiday.
As the schedule on March, on the 3rd week of March, on Friday & Saturday, March 15th and 16th, 2013 to be exact, the children of the 3rd category learned to farm on the pot as the media, supported by the children of the 2nd category.
The early activity was taking the soil near the farm area and buying some organic fertilizer. The seeds were bought a day before. They are seeds of chilly, red onion, spinach, and red spinach. The children mixed the soil with organic fertilizer in a big pot, after that, they put small stones as the base and give the soil into the pot.
The mini farm area was along the left corridor of the learning house, which used for the children through it after washing hands. It took 2 days learning. Every morning and afternoon, some children who live in the learning house watering the pot.
We hope the mini farm area could be worth for the needs of the children nutrition development at the learning house.
b. The Muara Baru Community
On this month, the learning activities were held twice, on the 2nd and the 4th week.
Many children followed the activity. There were 24 children in two categories. Ms. Yana and Ms. Indri accompanied them to learn.
It began on midday and finish in the afternoon.
We are so glad of the spirit to learn of the children. We hope the will and the spirit of the children could develop well.
We thank all the collaborative works between the facilitators, the volunteers, the children and residents of Cakung and Muara Baru, especially to Mrs. Herda at Muara Baru, Ms. Henni, Ms. Qori’ah, Indri, Yana, Riska, Mrs. Mar’ah, and the children coordinator program.
Bibliotheque
The activity of this month was preparing the book on the shelves and covering the registered book. The activity was held every Tuesday, after the learning activity in Cakung field area. The activity was coordinated by Cynthia and done together in the team.
Some broken reading books which cannot be repair, out of the shelves so the team could prepare other books in good condition which supported by donor. The children may keep them free while some old and broken books were sold in cheap price.
On this month, we have more reading books and student books. We thanked to Mrs. Erika Sufiana and family, Mrs. Christiani Aslim and family, also Mrs. Nani and family.
Finally we are thankful for the attention and the perseverance of the team.
Nutrition Improvement Program for Children
On March 2013, the nutrition improvement activities run well.
Besides drinking milk, the healthy menu for this month was hard-boiled egg, boiled corn, mangosteen, and spaghetty.
On the 2nd Saturday of March 2013, the menu was boiled corn. Because of the lunch time with Mr. Kuncoro and family, the children might to bring the healthy menu at home.
The variety of healthy menu also based on the beginning of the rainy season which there are more fruits harvest, especially mangosteen. The team chose it as the healthy menu on the 3rd Saturday of March 2013.
On the 4th Saturday of March 2013, the special healthy menu was spaghetti. The coordinator and team purchased the needs at the nearby market. All the preparation was done by the children of the 3rd category. Because of the preparation took time, boiled spaghetti and make sauce, so Ms. Qori’ah and Ms. Henni assist the children.
We thank the team who organised the healthy menu and cooked it during March 2013, also Ms. Qoriah and Ms. Henni.
Children Scholarship
The computer lesson for the dropped out students have still run since Februari 2013. It focused on making newsletter or wall magazine. The children can type and operating computer, so now they learn using Microsoft Word 2007 and Corel Draw X3 and now they begin to learn Photoshop program.
On this month, the sewing lesson begin. The lesson was at the workshop of Mrs. July, who own the boutique at her house. Every Thursday, some children learn there from morning til afternoon.
Thank you very much to Ms. Sari Pelengkahu who is faithfully assisted the children learning at her house. Thank you very much to Mrs. July and her staff who is patiently spend her time to assist the children learning at her workshop. Thank you so much to the facilitators and our friends who would like to support the program regularly. We hope the collaboration will continue well and become the worth provide for the children future.
April 2013 Activity Plans
1. Learning Activities
a. Computer, sewing, and making accessories lesson at the learning house. It needs the sewing equipment which will purchase in the early April 2013. The workshops will presented by the team of alumna of Santa Ursula High School (Ms. Sari Pelengkahu, Mrs. July Dharmasoeka, Ms. Linda Kurnia, Mrs. Widya Johannes, and friends) during April 2013.
b. The economic generating activity for teenagers is doing every Wednesday, along with the changes of the schedule of the library administration.
c. The learning evaluation of the 1st quarterly for the children on the last Saturday of April 2013.
2. The Nutrition Improvement Program for Children
a. Preparing the healthy menu and providing milk.
3. Library Program
a. Registration, covering books and organizing the books on the shelves.
b. The reschedule of library administration, from Tuesday to Wednesday due to the time of coordinator & the team.
