Progress Report of Children Learning Community in September 2018

Dear friends,

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community activities throughout September 2018. The activities run smoothly at Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi.

In the beginning of September, we got a sad news from Chilldren Learning Community in Sarang Tupai, Ciawi. A sibling of one of our dear facilitator passed away.
Accompany by one of the volunteer, we attended the funeral procession.
Parents and children also came to comfort the family.

We wished our deepest condolence to the loss one. We prayed for decease’s peaceful rest in the house of the Lord. In the hand of loving God, we asked also for the strength and endurance for the family to face their grievance.

At the end of September 2018, children got visitors. Mr. Nanang and his family came to see us at the 29th of September 2018. We haven’t seen each other for many years.

Mr. Nanang came on Saturday afternoon, right after healthy meal session. Mr. and Mrs. Nanang got a chance to talk to a few children who were still hung around after finishing their meal.

Mr. Nanang and his family also enjoyed healthy mungbean soup with slices of steam banana. The children’s mothers prepared the meal that day.

Mr. Nanang talked about perseverance to achieve goals. Children were advised to be diligent in their study.

Mr. Nanang remembered his struggling days to obtain overseas scholarship.  He knew before that he needed to master English language.

His advices to children who pursue overseas scholarship were to cultivate diligent attitude in studying and lean English well.

We took a group photo before visitation ended.

Children thank Mr. Nanang and his family for their financial donations. It benefits the operation of this learning community.

We hope for continuous relationship with Mr. Nanang and his family.

In the month of September and October 2018, children were accompanied by four High Scope Junior High students. They came for their civic studies of community work. In the mean time, they also taught Math, English and Indonesian to small children. One of them taught social skill with main focus to gain better understanding of peaceful society.

Before class began, children introduced themselves. And they continued to get to know each other in their learning category class.

In the beginning of September, Children in category 0 and 1 learned about living in peace from big sister Tanaya and Yohana. Children in learning category 2 and 3 learned Indonesian and Mathematics from big sister Tabina and Indri.

For 6th grader, they prepared their mid tests. Big brother Ludo accompanied them with their preparations.

In September, the category 2 children learned Math accompanied by big sister Jasmine. They learned additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions. In category 3 class, children learned English with big sister Calya and Indri.

In Ciawi, children learned with big sister Lenny. All activities ran well.

It was mandatory for the children to memorize multiplications table. As prerequisite for Math’s lesson, children need to master 0 to 10 count in multiplication table.

This month some children spend their time learned to memorize the table, but some have already able to move forward with their math lesson.

Small children learned with Mrs. Vera and Mrs. Ruth. They learned Indonesian syllables and simple math, addition problems using number 0 to 15.

In September, Cakung’s children were accompanied by Mrs. Mar’ah, big sister Yohana, big brother Ludo, big sister Indri, and big sister Debby. In Sarang Tupai, children were accompanied by big sister Lenny, Mrs. Ruth, Mrs. Vera, Mrs. Tjandra, and big sister Debby.

We thanked facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who gave their time, efforts, finances and facility for this learning program.

With her school mate, they departed on Wednesday, at the 20th of September. We helped her plane ticket and pocket money. The school provided lodge and meal.

The team made it to grand final. We were proud for their achievement. We hope the experience will bring up the spirit to gain further achievement in their life.

We thank loyal donors who relentlessly providing us with scholarship assistance. Your support is valuable for these children’s future.
