Sex Education, Week 1

By Yana

On 4th July 2010, I and some friends went to Working House on Bonang Street, together with Kak Uju. He hired an angkot (a public transport carried people on certain route), KWK 07. We left the meeting point on 09.30am and arrived at the destination on 10.30am. Once we arrived there, we took a rest for awhile and enjoyed the snack and sweet warm tea prepared by Kak Debby, Kak Lucy and Kak Uju.

The session was started on 11.00am with introduction to each other. I was nervous when Kak Alvi appointed me as the first person to introduce myself. After introduction, we watched a short movie about the Origin of Human. How great God creates human.

After watching the movie, we discussed about which part of the movie interested us most and its reason. I was interested on the stage before a fetus is formed, where sperms which look like tadpoles running to reach the egg. The form is so cute.
Then, we sang a song “Bunda” (=Mother). We really appreciated the lyrics until some of us cry and sob. Mala and I cried. I appreciate how noble a mother who gave birth and raise me. How great her sacrifice in delivering us to life.

After singing together, we received an assignment to create a floor mat from origami paper. While creating the mat, we listened to some entertaining and popular Indonesian rock songs. After making the mat, we had lunch together, exchanged dishes to each other. Mala was a bit behind with her mat making so Kak Alvi and Kak Debby helped her to finish it. So, she could enjoy having lunch together with us.

After lunch, there was an announcement of who made the best mat craft. I was surprised that it was me who won. I was so happy as I won it, and earned a chocolate waffle. After that, we were asked to torn our creations. I felt so sad and upset as it was my best work and I had to torn and destroy it, just like that.
Kak Alvi explained the reason behind this action. It is as if God creates human in a perfect and unique form. It is our responsibility to take care and not to destroy it with wrong and sinful acts.

After that, we all seems were drawn into a subconscious world level by Kak Alvi through her soft and touchy words until all of us cried and sobbed. This relaxation session took quite awhile as all of us cried and expressed our emotion. The emotion has been clogged, frustrating and upsetting us.

After this relaxation session, Kak Alvi explained as to why we could be crying and sobbing like that and what the purpose of this session. Then, the whole session finished. We took a group photo together. Kak Alvi received a gift as a memorable from us, it was a home-made chocolate, made by us. The chocolate was then shared and enjoyed by all of us.

We went home by taking the hired angkot , which fetched us up . We arrived home around 4.30pm.
