Visit to Bantar Gebang, May 2021 Children Learning Community Report

  

Dear friends,

 

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community’s activity throughout May 2021.

 

With a dedicated donor, we had a chance to visit Bantar Gebang on Sunday, 2^nd of May 2021. Even though we arrived a little bit later after the lesson ended, but we had a chance to meet teachers and facilitators.

 

We reminiscent about our days as facilitators and teachers at various places in Bantar Gebang. Some of our former students are now helping the children as teachers and program coordinators.  

 

After visit, we came back and prepared donations of children story books and learning equipment for Bantar Gebang’s children.

 

As scheduled, the children had their holiday in the 2^nd week of May. Children enjoyed their Ied’s holidays.

 

At the third week of May, Cakung’s and Rorotan’s children went back to online learning. Meanwhile, Ciawi’s children went back and lucky enough to do direct face to face learning.

 

Facilitators and I usually visit and greet their neighbours during Ied celebration.  Since pandemic, we hold ourself from doing that.

 

Instead, we digitally greet our neighbours. 

 

During Ied’s holiday, the children hit their home garden. They planted herbs and spices in small pots.

 

Thank you to all facilitators who assisted the children through all activities.

  

We also thank all parents for their trust. During pandemic, all activities were run with great cautious.

 

Pandemic forced us to adopt, especially learning spot for children. We had to provide suitable and safe learning place. At this moment, we only have a few movable white boards for learning activity at Cakung, Rorotan and Ciawi. We still need more mobile learning tools.

 

We still open for donation of whiteboard, clip board and tarp covers.

 

 

Children were grateful to be able to continue paying for their education through our scholarship program.

With your support, children can stay in school and have a better future.

To fulfill the need of the children and communities, we kindly ask our loyal friends to keep remember us.

June 2021 Plan :

 

1. Learning Activity in Cakung, Rorotan, and Ciawi.

 

 

- Learning will be conducted every Wednesday in Cakung, Thursday in  Ciawi, and Saturday in Rorotan, Malaka

 

2. Library Activity

 

- Sort out un unusable books for donation to Bantar Gebang’s community and children.

- Sort out and register donation of books. Some will be stored in        library case and some will be distributed to the children and       surrounding communities.

4. Staple Food Cooperative Effort

Cakung’s and Ciawi’s cooperative open for business as usual. Cooperative officers will keep track of sales, inventory and purchase out of stock items.

 

Despite pandemic’s hardship, many of loyal donors willingly dedicated their resources for the children.

We are grateful to our friends for all their prayers, finances, efforts and materials’ support throughout this month.

 

Together, we have taken part in the nation’s social effort to reduce poverty and create opportunity to excel.   Financial contributions and supports are needed to achieve this year’s budget.  

Even the smallest help from you, it provides great educational impact to future generation.

The Children Learning Community is trying to purchase a permanent learning centre in Cakung. 

 

The owner of current learning centre would like to sell his home to us. It was a privilege that he let us to rent his home for a long time. Now it is the time for us to have our own facility. During pandemic, we mostly utilize the house for office, cooperative effort’s warehouse and facilitators’ meeting place.

 

We really ask for our dear friends helps, references, inputs and financial helps.

 

So far, we have collected 14.017.800 IDR.

  

 

We thank our dear friends and donors for their faith and trust in us.
