Visiting my village

By Anah

On Tuesday, 7 September 2010, I went to visit my village. My village is located in Indramayu, West Java. I went there together with my sister. My mom and dad could not go with us as they are busy with the work, taking care the paddy field.

I took bus to Luragung It was a long journey, it took 5 hours to arrive there. Once we arrived, my relatives picked me up from the train station. I was so happy to be back to my village, meeting my relatives, old school friends as well as my Primary School teachers.

I stayed at my relative’s home. At that time, it was only a few more days of fasting. The winning day would come soon, my relatives and I were so looking forward to it. The Idul Fitri 1431H fell on Friday, 10 September 2010.

I woke up very early, cleaned up the house, and then I took shower. After shower, I got myself ready for the Shalat Ied. I went to the mosque together with my relatives and neighbors. When we arrived at the mosque, I met my friends. Not long after that, the shalat Ied started. After the prayer, I went home.

I and my relatives went around the village visiting neighbors to greet them Happy Idul Fitri. I was so happy at that time. During day time, my friends asked me to go to Tirtamaya beach. We had young coconut drink and walking along the beach. We arrived home late afternoon.

It seems time went so fast, I did not realize that I had been in the village for a week. I had to go back to Jakarta the next morning. Then, I went to Jakarta together with my sister. The journey was very long due to traffic jam. We arrived home in the afternoon. I was so happy to be able to visit my village, meeting my relatives and friends. And now, I am happy to return to my family at home.
