Dear friends,
Wishing the Hindus a peaceful Nyepi, day of silence, Caka year
1940.
and
Wishing all the Christians, the best of three holy
days, Maundy Thursday, Holy Friday and Ressucrection Sunday 2018
We were grateful to God and to our loyal
friends who supported the children learning community activities throughout
March 2018. In both Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi, the activities ran as
usual.
Mrs. Lanny, Mrs. Vera, Mrs. Ruth, Mrs. Tjandra, Rachel, and big
sister Debby taught children Sarang Tupai. Meanwhile Mrs. Mar’ah, big brother Amad, big brother David, and big sister
Debby taught the children in Cakung.
We thank
facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their
time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program.
Since
March 2018, the activity skill for young women and mothers has been moved to
Monday.
So
far, young women and mothers are still creatively making products out of coffee
packs. Mrs Tjandra taught them weaving.
Then, later on they developed their weaving skill into making dining
mats, bowl and glass covers.
Besides
weaving, the women and mothers were also knitting. They started making clothes
with simple patterns and are gradually moving into making more complicated
scarfs.
Since
several years before, the women in Cakung still diligently focus on weaving
recycle coffee packs.
In
Cakung, the women collect, wash, dry, separate and group dry coffee packs
according to the pictures on the packs. It is a long process even before the
actual weaving. We centralized this
process in Cakung.
We
usually bring cleaned coffee packs to Sarang Tupai for weaving activity.
Some
Sarang Tupai mothers, voluntarily collect and clean their own recycle coffee
packs, but the majority of coffee packs come from Cakung’s facility.
Throughout March, there were several
events in the community. We gave our outmost service and support to the
community. We always remember them in our prayer.
We
are saddened by the passing of big sister Ari’s father in the middle of March 2018. For several
months, big sister Ari was given leave of absence from our activity to attend
her sick father.
We
sympathized and attended the funeral. Our deepest taught and prayer to the
family. We pray for forgiveness and final resting place in the Lord’s
home.
In March, we fulfill the needs of scholarship recipients such as
photocopies of school materials, school supplies, shoes, school needs and
school fees for boarding school recipients, school activity fees and routine
school transportation allowance.
We also need to prepare for some recipients who are willing to
go to higher schools.
Some parents already asked our assistance for their children to
go to middle schools and vocational high schools.
We hope for our respected donors’ positive response.
We
thank our loyal donor who support this program. Your support is valuable
for children’s future.
Throughout March 2018, we prepared
various healthy meals for Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children. We made
cookies, green bean soup with cuts of banana, “duku”, (small ball sized local
fruits), hamburger with egg, oranges, mangosteen, tofu with vegetable filled, seafood
egg rice noodle, peanut spicy sauce, shrimp crackers, fried banana and fried
soybean slice.
Sarang
Tupai’s community prepared “rujak”, peanut sauce fruit salad and “lontong
sayur”, packed steam rice fill with vegetable sautéed wrap with pandan leaves.
Mrs Tjandra prepared “opor ayam”, coconut milk chicken soup, packed steam rice,
fried flour wrapped vegetable and cookies.
We
thank Mrs. Tjandra for preparing meals for Sarang Tupai’s children. We also
thank the facilitators and the community of Cakung and Sarang Tupai for preparing healthy meals for Cakung’s and Sarang
Tupai’s children throughout March 2018.
Kartini cooperative effort ran well.
Community also spare their time to purchase their grocery at the cooperative
after learning session.
We thank our dedicated and loyal friends
who support this program.
We
wish for longevity of this program.
