Foremost effort for the children, Children Learning Community August 2020 Report

Dear friends,

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community’s activity throughout August 2020.

We thank facilitators who assist the children in all activities.

We thank parents for trusting us to reopen some of facilities. For safety reasons of pandemic rampage development, we have to be cautious with many of activities.

Cakung’s children learned at four locations nearby their home. Rorotan’s children learned at their closed location in Rorotan, Malaka. Ciawi’s children also have started their learning since mid-August. Only Muara Tawar’s facility were still closed for learning.

In the middle of August, we visited Ciawi bringing food donations, stationeries and cleaning tools for reopening facility.

We met with Ciawi’s facilitators to prepare the reopen.

We decided to spread learning locations into three places. Each learning location will take turn getting their weekly visit.

Parents will also got involve in setting up Ciawi’s learning program.

These days, most parents liked to get involve. They were concerned in safety of their children. Although we limited our face to face learning, some parents were still presents during face to face session.

Ciawi’s children meet every Thursday. Cakung’s children will meet on Wednesday and Rorotan’s children will meet on Saturday. Learning period is shortened to 15 to 20 minutes. Facilitators gave quick lesson and distributed homework.

In Ciawi, children will be given milk and snacks such as donuts or fried “tempe”, soy bean curd after quick lesson.

Facing with uncertain conditions, facilitators were in closed contact with parents and children through whatsapp group messages. Surely, at the end of August, the pandemic reached its peak.

Cakung’s facility was forced to close at the end of August, followed by Ciawi’s facility in the beginning of September.

Supported by parents, facilitators rearranged learning program.

Facilitators were no longer met the children face to face. They only distributed the assignments through parents at community points nearby. Assignments will be given and collected at the same meeting point once a week.

Group whatsapp messages become valuable. The children can send their assignments  and picture of themselves doing the assignments. Facilitators also use group messages to distribute assignments.

We did our best for wellbeing of the children. They deserved to get education for their future.

Attached are pictures of Cakung, Rorotan and Ciawi children’s activities.  .

Prices were given for the highest achievements.

A Ciawi’s children has won three prizes at his school competition. He got first prize in drawing for Scout Day competition. He also got third prize in singing and third prize in drawing for Independence Day competition. We wish him a good spirit ahead.

Children were grateful to receive scholarship assistance this month. We are also thankful for the opportunity to provide for these children.

All school expenses including text books and other needs were done by bank transfer. Transportation and snack allowance were allocated for internet fee.

You have boosted our spirit in bringing up the underprivileged community. You have given these children the opportunity to be smart, independent and prosper in their own community. Together, we have taken part in the nation’s effort for social justice.   Financial contributions and supports are still needed for this year’s budget.
