Stay at home. Stay active. Children Learning Community April 2020 Activity Report.

 

We wished the Christians the best time on comemorating three holy days of Easter 2020.

 

May the resurrection of Christ strengthen our faith. We all can live in service to others and  total devotion to the Lord.    

 

Dear friends,

 

We are happy to have a chance to greet you back.

 

We are also grateful for your pray and support. Despite the government impose on “PSBB” or Corona lock down, the children were still actively learn at their own home.

 

Throughout April 2020, the children did their duty at their own home. We asked them to write down their experience at home, doing household chores, writing about the virus and ways to prevent them from spreading to others.  Cakung’s children even able to garden. They utilized small pots for plants. Other task given is to make face masks out of a pair of socks.

 

Facilitators were also busy went around the neighbourhood handing out learning tasks and collecting children’s written report. Once a week, some facilitators came to learning centre and sanitized the vicinity with disinfectants.

 

Since the beginning and up to middle of April, the community were blessed with donation. They received food and cleaning tools and agents. They also received vitamins and face masks. We also secure donors for community’s family fund. Each family was given food to support their livelihood during lockdown period.

 

In Cakung, some mothers and facilitators purchased some food. They distributed those food and money to 68 families in Cakung, Rorotan and at the rural vegetable farm in North Bekasi. We also sent cleaning tools, cleaning agents, vitamins and face masks to Ciawi’s community. Ciawi’s facilitators then received money transferred and purchased food to all families in the community.

 

To keep the community trust and respect the government’s authority, we postpone to visit Muara Tawar’s area for a while. We still keep in touch with the community through telephone.

 

We are very grateful to facilitators and mothers of Ciawi’s and Cakung’s community who help us on getting donations to the children and their families.

 

We thank Mr. Moh.Sophi and Madam Ann Djudzman, Sister Lucia, OSU, and big sister Nadhira for their fund donations which were used to fulfil the community needs for food. We also thank big sister Anita Linggar for donations of face masks. We thank Madam Lucia and Madam Yenny for donations of vitamins, hand sanitizers and face masks.

 

We are so blessed to have such kind and generous friends. We pray for your wellbeing and many blessings..

 

We also thank many of our facilitators and community mothers who help us extend our service to their surrounding community. We thank also for taking photos of the activities in the porch and inside many families home.

 

In the middle of pandemic, they were willing to take risks and fully realized of duty and  responsibility to generous donors.

 

Below are some pictures of community activities during lockdown period, “PSBB”. From the comfort of their home, children were helping their parents, learning and playing.

 

Children were doing their tasks which were instructed by facilitators. Children also wrote report of their day activities, wrote about the virus, habits to prevent the virus, wrote about cultivating plants in pots, making model tricycle,“becak”, making face masks out of a pair of socks.

Lock down also effected school’s children. School were closed and no longer a save place for children. Government instructed all schools to keep educating their pupils online. Many school’s lessons including final exams were given digitally.

 

Happy news from Ciawi’s community, one of their children received a third price for drawing theme of virus’ prevention in his school.

 

We were grateful to fulfil children’s needs through scholarship program this month.

 

Some recipients received monthly school fees. The transportation allowances still be given to some students. They used it to purchase internet package for their school’s on line lesson.

 

The children thank loyal donors for providing them with scholarship assistance.

 

With your support, children will have hope for better future.

 

 

We ask many of our loyal friends to share our responsibility for the welfare of the children and communities.

 

Your kindness and supports have strengthened us to carry on this duty and service.

 

May 2020 Plan:

 

1.    The facility will be closed down for any activity The Indonesian Government will still be imposing lockdown. Therefore, there is no regular learning and community activity at the learning centre until further notice.

a.    Cakung’s facilitators and community members will regularly clean and sanitized the facility.

b.    Children still be able to learn at home, Facilitators will distribute their learning tasks on line. 

c.    Continue distributing food, cleaning tools, cleaning agents, vitamins and face masks.

 

2.    Scholarship

 

 

3.    Basic Needs cooperative effort.

·         Cooperative run regularly. The cooperative officers regularly purchase the out of stock items. At designated day, Cakung’s and Ciawi’s community will be able to obtain their needs through cooperative. .  

 

We are grateful to our friends for their prayers, finances, efforts and materials’ support throughout this month.

 

You have boosted our moral in bringing up the underprivileged community. You have given these children the opportunity to be smart, independent and prosper in their own community. Together, we have taken part with nation’s effort for social justice.  

  

Financial contributions and continuous support were still needed in 2020.

 

Even the smallest helps, will be beneficial to the children, the nation’s future generations.

 

We thank dedicated donors for their financial supports. They are valuable for Children Learning Community’s day to day operation.
