Happy and Sad Event in the Beginning of year 2020, Progress Report Children Learning Community in January 2020

Happy New Year 2020

And for those families who celebrate Chinese Lunar Year, we wish you a very prosperous year.

Dear friends,

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community throughout January 2020. All activities at Cakung, Sarang Tupai, Ciawi and Muara Tawar ran smoothly.

All learning activity were started back at the second week of January 2020.

Monsoon rain poured Jakarta started in New Year Evening 2020. It  caused flood in all parts of Jakarta.

Water rose up to adult’s waist. Many families along Ciliwung’s river banks were affected by raging water. In Manggarai area, many houses along the river were swept by it. 

During holiday, we assisted many of flood victims. 

We thank Sr. Agustina, BKK, big sister Eka, Miss Ko, Mother Superior of Fransiskan Congregation, and Matraman Marsudirini Elementary’s teachers.

At the 7^th of January 2020, we lost big sister Vero, one of our devoted donor and early facilitator in Cakung.

We remembered her kindness. She has contributed her time and finance since the beginning of children learning program in Cakung Sawah.  We really missed her.

We prayed for her peace in the house of the Lord, the eternal resting place.

On Friday, at the 10^th of January 2020, the children were invited by Caritas Christi Preschool and Elementary School for Christmas celebration.

       

Children are grateful to Caritas Christi Preschool’s and Elementary School’s Principal, teachers and students. Children are looking forward for future collaboration.

Sarang Tupai, Ciawi’s parents and children were grieved after the passing of Holil on Saturday, at the 11^th of January 2020.

He was only 12

We were saddened.

We prayed for his peaceful rest and strength for the family.

To other children, Holil’s mom encourage them to stay studying at the learning centre. It also helps mom and extended family cope with grievance seeing other children striving for better future.

The Ciawi’s mother were also involved by providing food for comforting prayers and gathering up to 7 days after the passing.

On Tuesday evening, at the 21^st of January 2020, a Cakung’s facilitator also lost her father.

Many of Cakung’s facilitators came to her place and many of Ciawi’s facilitators came for funeral procession at the grave yard.

The facilitator thanked all of her dear friends for their prayers and kind attention. We pray for peaceful resting place and for the family’s strength going through the mourning period.   

On Saturday, at the 25^th of January 2020, all learning activities were halted due to Lunar New Year.

Several Cakung’s children visited one of the member of community for New Years’ celebration.

They were excited enjoying many of family’s New Year dishes.

We thank the community for keeping caring relationship among each other. This is impacted on children since we also taught them to care one another. 

We also thanked facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program throughout January 2020

We were grateful to fulfil children’s needs through scholarship program this month.

Some recipients received monthly school fees, transportation allowances and school supplies.  

                                                                               

The children thank loyal donors for providing them with scholarship assistance.

With your support, children will have hope for better future.

This month healthy menu include “getuk”, traditional cassava treats, cake, biscuit, milk, fried panada, “cucur”, fried rice cake and “dodol”, caramelized sugar paste. 

We thank the students and teachers of Caritas Christi Preschool and Elementary School for their donations of biscuit and milk.

       

Children thanked facilitators and communities in all three locations for preparing heathy meal in January 2020.

We ask many of our loyal friends to join us in caring for children and communities.

Your kind attentions and supports have strengthened us to carry on this duty and service.

We are grateful to our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials throughout this month.

You have boosted our moral in bringing up the underprivileged. You have given these children the opportunity to be smart, independent and prosper in their own community. Together, we have taken part with nation’s effort for social justice.  

Financial contributions and continuous support were still needed in 2020. 

Even the smallest helps, will be beneficial to the children, the future of a nation.
