Progress Report of Children Learning Community in July 2019

Dear friends,

  

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community throughout July 2019. Children Learning Community activities at Cakung, Sarang Tupai, Ciawi and Muara Tawar ran smoothly.

There were a few things that happened in the community this month.

Ciawi’s community experienced tension with a developer in the beginning of July 2019. Fences were built around the land blocking access to people’s home.   

Developer cleared out people’s home front yard for road. Plants have been cut to make a way into concrete gated area. 

Friends from STIH Jentera helped the community with legal advice. They visited the community and urged them to get in touch with attorney’s office in Jakarta. 

The community took the advice and started legal process right away. After learning session, parents went to Cibinong’s Police station to file their complaint.

A few days later, big brother Kahfi, a student of STIH Jentera accompanied some community members to the attorney’s office in Jakarta.

In the middle of July 2019, a child from Muara Tawar’s Children Learning community lost a father.  

Zidni lost her father due to illness. He was cared for a few days and passed in the hospital. Zidni is living with her mother now. 

We felt for the family. After learning, we visited them.

A few days later, there was another death in Muara Tawar. Rifki lost his baby sibling.

The baby was sick for a few days before passing. Rifki’s mother was devastated. We also felt the lost.

May they rest in peace. We pray for wellbeing of the lost one.  

At the end of July 2019, the scholarship’s recipients started their school.

We are grateful to fulfil scholarship needs this academic year.

Most of recipients received good academic reports.

Donor have helped the children staying in school.

We thank the loyal donor who relentlessly providing us with scholarship assistance. Your support is valuable for these children’s future.

At the end of July 2019, the head of community, “Pak RW” needed hospital care for symptoms of tuberculosis. A few days later, some facilitators visited him.

 

“Pak RW” is kind enough to have the children gathered inside community guard post. “Pak RW” and his family usually come to see the children learning. During his sickness, none of his family could come.

We pray for his recovery.

We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program.

We thank Mrs. Tjandra for donation of 11 boxes of snacks. Sarang Tupai’s Children were happy to consume the snack after learning. 

We distributed the snacks to the villages in Ciawi and some to Cakung’s and Muara Tawar’s children.

Because of budget shortage, we have to limit the purchasing of healthy food foor children.

We are blessed that children still receive healthy food donations from various donors. This month we were able to serve them with snacks.

We also provide beef ball noodle soup, papaya, banana, biscuits, and homemade afternoon treat such as steam cassava with brown sugar in it.    

We thanked facilitators and families who prepared the food for the children in July.

We ask many of our loyal friends to join us in caring for the children and community.

In order to narrow the 2019 budget gap, we are doing fund raising. Cakung’s cooking coach were kind enough to make onion cheese stick.

   

We thank big sister Widya Utami, Mrs. Martini and friends who helped us with onion cheese stick. In July 2019, we were able to raise total profit of 3.081.000 IDR.

We also thank our young friends big sister Saneri, big sister Dina, and big borther Kahfi who gave ideas and financial support. It helps Children Learning Community on their Operating Budget 2019.

Your kind attentions and supports gave us strength to care and serve the children.

August 2019 Plan:

1.                Learning Activity

a.   Cakung’s, Sarang Tupai’s and Muara Tawar’s will be having their learning review at the end of August.

b.   In lieu of Indonesia’s Independence Day, children will enjoy fun and games on schedule prepared.

2.                Scholarship

a.    Fulfilling school needs for recipients in Elementary, Middle and Senior High School level

3.                   Staple Needs Cooperative Effort

Purchase July 2019’s out stocks items. Establish cooperative activity in Sarang Tupai, Ciawi’s community.

We are grateful to our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials throughout this month.

With you, we take part in effort to bring up poor community. We give children the opportunity to be smart, independent and prosper in their own community. In doing so, we participate in nation’s effort for social justice.  

Your generosity helps many young generation. Your routine financial contribution helps the operation of learning centers.

We thank the Ursulin Sisterhood Juanda for collecting recycle coffee packs. Mothers and teenage girls were using these coffee packs as handicraft material.
