Unite in the spirit of Christmas. Children Learning Community, December 2019 Report.

 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020 to Christian’s children.

Dear friends,

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community throughout December 2019. All activities at Cakung, Sarang Tupai, Ciawi and Muara Tawar ran smoothly.

We usually end the learning activity in the beginning of December. Due to review activities involving children and facilitators, this year learning ended in the middle of December.

Children in all three facilities started their 3^rd Quarter Review in the first week of December.   

Muara Tawar’s children did their review in unique way. They assigned to collectively choose a dish and to cook. The children prepared and cooked their favourite dish, egg meat ball fried rice. 

     

Children were actively planning their tasks. Each of the children has their duty to prepare, cook even serve the dish.

We also thanked facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program.

In the beginning of December, Dr Frans, an old friend came to Ciawi visiting the children. 

The children were thrilled to see Dr Frans. They were able to practice their English. The facilitators also thrilled to see the children’s learning spirit, especially learning English. 

We also visited a few donors and celebrated Christmas with them at their home. 

Cakung’s children enjoyed their Christmas lunch together. Children also enjoyed Belgian chocolate, gifts from Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Katrien. 

Children were grateful to big sister Widya and Dani for Christmas’ lunch. Childrean also thanked Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Katrien for their chocolate treats. They prayed for their health and wellbeing.

At the end of 2019, on 31^st December, children got invited to attend a birthday party of 7 years old Cakung’s child.

   

Children had a good time at Angzil’s party. Children prayed that Angzil will grow strong, healthy, diligent and smart. They also prayed for her moral compass and respect to her parents.    

We were grateful to fulfil children’s needs through scholarship program this month.

Some recipients received monthly school fees.  And some needy children also received transportation allowances along with monthly school fees.

The children thank loyal donors for providing them with scholarship assistance.

With your support, children will have hope for better future.

This month, we served the children with fruit “getuk”, cassava treats; caramel pudding; egg meatball fried rice; rice noodle and egg meat ball fried noddle.

 

Ciawi’s children also enjoyed carrot cake from big sister Rahma and Dr Frans.

Ciawi’s mother and facilitators also prepared “nasi kuning”, the turmeric rice treat complete with various condiments for the children. It was to celebrate a birthday of one of our facilitator. 

   

We are blessed to know each other. For four years, we have worked together to serve the children.

  

Children thanked facilitators and communities in all three locations for preparing heathy meal in December.

We ask many of our loyal friends to join us in caring for children and communities.

Your kind attentions and supports have strengthened us to carry on this duty and service.

January 2020 Plan: 

1. Assisting flood victim with food, clothing and shelter.

This month, Jakarta residences experienced heavy monsoon and major flood everywhere.

Some Cakung’s and Muara tawar’s family were affected by flood.

  

We met one of Jakarta residence who lost their entire home. The raging water of Ciliwung river swept many of houses underneath Manggarai bridge, Slamet Riyadi. 

We also visited a family who took shelter in SDN 01, an Elementary School in Manggarai. They lost everything accept a tv set and a bag of important documents. 

  

They are still looking for a place to live nearby Manggarai railway track. 

For those who are willing to help, small children are desperately in need for clothing. They also need Elementary School uniform and school supplies. Their family need food, kitchen utensil and bedding. 

Donation can be transferred to bank account at the end of this report. 

2. Learning Activity
1. Due to heavy mansoon in Jakarta and Bekasi, learning activity will be start in the middle of January 2020. 

3. Scholarship
1. Fulfilling school needs for recipients in Elementary, Middle and High School level.

We are grateful to our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials throughout this month.

You have boosted our moral in bringing the underprivileged. We give children the opportunity to be smart, independent and prosper in their own community. In doing so, we participate in nation’s effort for social justice.  

With helps of many friends, children are going to go through 2020 with many fun and educational activities.

Even the smallest helps, will be beneficial to the children, the future of a nation. 

We thank dedicated donors for their financial supports, which are valuable for day to day operation of Children Learning Community.

We thank the sisters of Santa Maria Convent, Juanda for donations of biscuits and pocket wallets.  

We thank for your routine donations. Children are very grateful for various programs which otherwise cannot be done without your supports.

Children Learning Community also thanked big brother Lulud and family for donation of a computer set. It helps us doing the office work and operation.
