Progress Report of Children Learning Community in November 2019

Dear friends,

We were grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported the children learning community throughout November 2019. All activities at Cakung, Sarang Tupai, Ciawi and Muara Tawar ran smoothly.

We thank donors for their participation in paying for a rental facility. We were able to extend our learning rooms and office for another year.

In the beginning of November, children visited National Museum. We also took several Muara Tawar’s children. The visit meant for getting the children away from routine classroom learning.

These children were children who were not able to come for Technology Museum visit at “Museum IPTEK, TMII” last October.

They were delighted to see musical performance and exhibits in the Museum’s vicinity.

Muara Tawar’s children felt privileged to have this opportunity visiting modern building with lift and escalators. Children were braved riding those electrical stairs for the first time.

Since rainy season begin, the activity in Sarang Tupai started earlier. And to anticipate the rain, children did their learning inside the villa, instead the usual outside terrace.

Children were cautiously preparing for heavy rain, gusty wind and thunders. When they saw hanging clouds, they asked permission to leave the class.

Due to circumstances, we postponed November’s review. The children will be given review in the beginning of December 2019.

Below are pictures of Cakung’s, Ciawi’s, and Muara Tawar’s activities:

We also thanked facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program.

In the middle of November, after a long battle with developer, several families at Sarang Tupai’s community were ordered to move out the land. They were given small money for a few years house rent. It was not fair, especially after 16 years living in this land. The families could stand the intimidations. Thus, after the effort of  lurah”, their village head who acted as a mediator, finally, they decided to take the developer’s offer.

The three family houses were left to be turned down by developer.

The families believe that all this things happened for a reason. God would provide them for many blessing and eventually justice will prevail.

We were grateful to fulfil children’s needs through scholarship program this month.

In November, the scholarship’s recipients received monthly school fees and transportation allowance which only available for a few needy children.

The children thank loyal donors for providing them with scholarship assistance.
With your support, children will have hope for better future.

This month, we served the children with fruit cocktail, boiled eggs, , fried rice noodle, mangoes, green bean porridge, “kue cucur”, panada,  mungbean pudding, corn pudding, and chocolate caramel pudding.

Children thanked facilitators and communities in all three locations for preparing heathy meal in November.

We ask many of our loyal friends to join us in caring for children and communities.

Your kind attentions and supports have strengthened us to carry on this duty and service.
