Progress Report of Children Learning Community on January 2013

Dearest friends,

In January 2013, the alternative education of Children Learning Community run well, based on the program and curriculum of 2013 which prepared by the facilitators.

In the early 2013, we begin to manage the learning house that we rent for a year, by ourselves. The learning house has 5 rooms including the kitchen and the bathroom. The rooms are for the learning activities and the place to stay the facilitators. There are 5 people stay there; the facilitators and volunteer, also Firman (a kid from the 1st category) and his grandma who almost blind because of diabetes. Three rooms are for learning activities and library, two rooms are for facilitators-volunteer and Firman-his grandma.

As the learning house is for learning activities, secretariat, and for staying the children, we have to provide the households and Ms.Linda and her family support some household stuff.

We were so thankful for Ms.Linda and the family’s support. May God give you peace and blessing.
There were some sad moments during January 2013.

In the early January 2013, we looked on in a donor, Sr. Pauline, OSU, who have medical treatment at St. Carolus Hospital because of heart attack. Few days later, we looked on the father of Aji (a child from the 3rd category & involved in program activities) who become the victim of car accident. He was hit by a car while walked to the market and hospitalized at Persahabatan Hospital, East Jakarta for intensive care. On the same day, we looked on Mrs.Mamiek (the mother of Ms.Uju & Ms.Qori’ah as the facilitators of the 2nd category and of the 3rd category). She was hospitalized because of leukemia.

In the early January 2013, we had Christmas gifts from Ms.Maureen Lintong who was in Christmas Holiday in Indonesia. Every children have Christmas gifts, such as biscuits, milk, and snacks which we share for all of the children from all categories. Some gifts, such as food stuff we share for the children, some we cooked for the healthy menu in the 2nd Saturday of January 2013.

Thank you very much to Ms. Maureen and family for sharing the joy for the children of Cakung. May God give you peace and blessing.

In mid January 2013, we have sad news, finally the father of Aji passed away because of the bad injuries of the car accident.

We give condolence to Aji’s family and pray for his father’s rest in peace and for the family. We pray also for Mrs.Mamiek struggling her illness.

In mid January 2013, there was flood disaster in Jakarta. Some families who live in a farming area near the learning house have to move because of flood disaster. Some people were still in their house, while the other move for few days to their hometown. Some children moved to the learning house for few days.

We are blessed because the learning house could be the shelter for some people and leave their households.

We have some food supports from sanggar akar for the victims of flood disaster in Cakung and we distributed them directly.

At the end of January 2013, we have some donations from friends; Sr. Felicia, OSF, Mrs.Yuli, Mr.Advent, Wanda-Eka Mei family, which we expend food for the victims of flood disaster in Muara Baru. The flood almost covered all their house. We also have donation from Ms. Yosepha and Mrs. Lillian. We distributed the food after flood on Sunday, January 27th, 2013. The pictures attached.

We are so grateful for the donation and support of Sanggar Akar, Ms. Yosepha, Mrs.Lillian, Sr. Felicia OSF, Mrs. Yuli, Mr.Advent, and the family of Wanda – Eka Mei. May peace be with you and be blessed to others.

At the end of January 2013, we had sad news, the grandfather of Yana (the facilitator of the children of the 0 category), Cynthia & Intan (the children of the 3rd category). After the funeral, we went to the house. We give condolence and pray for the grandfather of Yana’s rest in peace.

At the end of January until the early February 2013, as the scheduled, the 26 students of the 2nd grade of De Britto High School in Yogyakarta and their teacher visited us for live-in activity.

They have to do the annual school task to stay at the poor environment for few days, especially for experiencing the struggle of the people of Cakung to make a living. Their teacher as their facilitator stayed at the learning house.

On Tuesday, January 29th, 2013, the coordinator of the school activity and his team with Father Yohanes Nugroho, SJ as the vice principal of De Britto High School visited us in the learning house. They came by to know the situation in Cakung.

The Live-in Exposure activity is an annual program in the school while few years ago located in Jakarta. It learned the students how to experience the survival of the low income family in Cakung for few days.
All of the students stayed in some families in Cakung, while the teacher as their instructor, Mrs.Dewi stayed at the learning house.

This was the first time for us to accept so many students to stay in Cakung for few days. We were so happy and grateful for their trust. We hope our cooperation will continue well. Thank you very much to the students, the teacher, the coordinator of this activity, and Father Yohanes Nugroho, SJ as the vice principal of De Britto High School.

Alternative Learning Activities

The learning activities at the learning house began on the 1st Friday of January 2013. It was just some of the children learning because most of them still in their homeland. On the 1st Saturday of January 2013, more children gathered to learn. The learning activity at Cakung farming area began on the 2nd Tuesday of January 2013.

The schedule of the learning activities 2013 of the Children Learning Community are :
Tuesday : the learning activity at Cakung farming area
Friday & Saturday : the learning activities at the learning house
The 2nd & 4th Sunday every month : the learning activities at Muara Baru

We have new schedule, which last year, we have twice a week at Cakung farming area, now just once a week, while last year we have every week at Muara Baru, now just twice a month.

a. Cakung Children Community

The new management and rules also the agreement are beginning to run.

The saving activity coordinated by Nisa, opens the learning activities. After that, the team of learning house maintenance are cleaning the house, sharpening the pencils, assisting the children for nail clipping and managing the row of the children for washing hand. Every two children have to come to the bathroom, after that, wipe with the cloth in the left alley of the house, so the floor always clean and not wet.

The learning activities ended after the children come home. The team have to clean the house, sharpen the pencils, and fill the ink of markers. All the team of the programs help each other.

While every Tuesday, the facilitators gather to evaluate and prepare the learning materials for Friday and Saturday.

b. The Muara Baru Community

The learning activity started at the 2nd week of January 2013, exactly on Sunday, January 13th, 2013. Just a few children who could follow the learning activity because of the rainy season, so some children choose not to go out from their house. The learning activity facilitated by two facilitators.

On the 4th week of January 2013, exactly on Sunday, January 27th, 2013, we just visited Mrs.Herda’s house and some houses giving some supports after flood disaster. We just only have the information from the local newspapers and we couldn’t go to the flood area which almost 1 meter high.

The learning room was full of flood, also the houses. During the days in the mid January 2013, the electricity and the water were not functioning. Some families who have two-story house, just live and wait until the flood lessened.

While we visited there, some people were cleaning the house. The water began to function since Saturday, January 26th, 2013. The learning activity was off. Some children still busy to help their parents cleaning their house.

Some people talked about the flood disaster. While the rain began at night, the flood slowly increase until about 1 meter high and the electricity was not functioned. The people and their children were thankful for the food support. They were so grateful according to the food price increase after the flood disaster.

We pray for the normal situation and the people could do their daily activities.

We thank all the collaborative works between the facilitators, the volunteers, the children and residents of Cakung and Muara Baru, especially to Mrs. Herda at Muara Baru, Indri, Yana, Lisna, Riska, Mrs. Mar’ah, and the children coordinator program.

Bibliotheque

The library program begin to run on the 2nd Tuesday of January 2013, coordinated by Intan, who lead this a year ago, supported by her team.

The activity of this month was preparing the book on the shelves and covering the registered book.

On this year, the coordinator should type the book registration on the computer and print after that. By the computers support from Laftavi family and Ms.Sari, the children learn to used to do every task with computers.

Finally we are thankful for the attention and the perseverance of the team.

Nutrition Improvement Program for Children

The program began on the 1st Saturday of January 2013 with the menu hard-boiled egg. The life-skill activity for the children of the 3rd category on the 1st Saturday was ginger drink. After eat the healthy menu, the children of the 3rd category started to make ginger drink, added with nuts and dices of bread.

On the year of 2013, the coordinator of this program is Tia. By this year, all the preparations until the cooking are done all by the children of the 3rd category. The facilitators just assist them.

The stove make the children easier to learn directly by preparing and cooking the healthy menu as the schedule. The ingredients are from their farm and the local market, and they learn not to use the harmful additives, such as MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamat).

Every Friday after the learning activities, the children of the 3rd category gather to write the recipe, make a list, sharing the task and discuss about the kitchen dishes that they have to bring.

On the 2nd Saturday of January 2013, the children of the 3rd category cooked the soup of quail egg, on the 3rd Saturday, they cooked jelly into the papaya, while on the 4th Saturday, they cooked tempe (fermented soybean cake) croquettes.

We thank the team who organised the healthy menu and cooked it during January 2013.

Children Scholarship

In this month, the scholarship expenditure to provide the need of learning materials for the elementary and university students, also the internet rental for the university student.

In the early January 2013, after the New Year’s holiday, a scholarship student in the university followed the examination of the 1st semester, from Sunday, 7th – Sunday, 18th January 2013 and few days after it, she followed the campus activity, Accounting Gathering for few days. The 1st semester vacation is for a month, but in the early February 2013, she has to registered for the 2nd semester. The marks of the examination on the 1st semester will informed in the early February 2013.

One of the elementary scholarship student, Firman, just take his report after the Christmas and New Year holiday. The report is not so good. The teacher evaluate him as a child who have less attention at home, especially in learning and in school task doing.

Now Firman live in the learning house with the regular schedule of learning, from morning till night, assisted by the facilitators & volunteer who live in the learning house, too.

Although he live only with his Grandma who almost blind, no care and attention from his parents, we hope that assisted by the facilitators who live in the learning house, he could feel more love and attention from his sisters, so his life and his academic achievement will be much better.

February 2013 Activity Plans

1. Learning Activities

The saving activity followed by food supply bringing compulsory (which prepared by their parents) for the children on the days of learning activities. The goal is to stop the children’s habit to buy junk food or harm snacks.

The economic generating program for the Cakung teenagers is by making Valentine’s Paper Quilling Cards since the last week of January until the 2nd week of February 2013.

2. The Nutrition Improvement Program for Children

Preparing the healthy menu and providing milk.

3. Library Program

Covering books and organizing the books on the shelves.

Laporan Kegiatan Komunitas Anak Belajar pada Januari 2013

Salam jumpa teman-teman yang baik,

Memasuki bulan Januari 2013 ini, kegiatan pendidikan alternatif Komunitas Anak Belajar mulai berjalan dengan baik berdasarkan program dan kurikulum 2013 yang dibuat bersama fasilitator.

Sejak awal tahun ini, kami mulai mengelola sendiri rumah belajar yang kami kontrak. Rumah belajar yang memiliki 5 ruangan juga dapur dan kamar mandi, digunakan selain untuk tempat kegiatan belajar, juga untuk tempat istirahat para penghuninya. Hingga saat ini, rumah belajar dihuni oleh 5 orang, yaitu para fasilitator dan volunteer, juga menampung Firman (anak kategori I) dan Neneknya yang hampir mengalami kebutaan karena diabetes yang dideritanya. Tiga ruang digunakan untuk kegiatan belajar dan perpustakaan, dua ruang untuk tempat istirahat para fasilitator-volunteer dan keluarga Firman.

Dengan adanya rumah belajar yang berfungsi sebagai tempat belajar, sekretariat, dan tempat tinggal bagi anak-anak dan keluarga yang membutuhkan, kebutuhan akan perlengkapan rumah tangga dan operasional mesti dipenuhi. Untuk itu kami mendapat bantuan barang-barang perlengkapan rumah tangga dari Kak Linda dan keluarga.

Kami sangat berterimakasih atas bantuan dan dukungan Kak Linda dan keluarga. Kiranya Tuhan senantiasa memberi damai sejahtera dan berkat melimpah.

Beberapa peristiwa sedih menyelimuti Komunitas Anak Belajar selama bulan Januari 2013 ini.

Pada awal Januari 2013, kami menjenguk seorang donator kami yang sakit, dirawat di RS St.Carolus karena sakit jantung. Beberapa hari kemudian, kami menjenguk Bapak dari Aji (pengurus program dan anak kategori III) yang menjadi korban tabrak lari dan akhirnya dibawa ke RS Persahabatan, Jakarta Timur untuk memperoleh perawatan lebih intensif. Demikian pula pada hari dan di RS yang sama, kami menjenguk Ibu Mamiek (orang tua Kak Uju dan Kak Qori’ah, fasilitator anak kategori II dan III) yang dirawat karena menderita kanker darah (leukemia).

Pada awal Januari 2013, kami mendapat hadiah Natal dari Kak Maureen Lintong yang sedang berlibur Natal di Indonesia. Setiap anak mendapat bingkisan Natal biscuit, susu, dan snack yang kami bagikan untuk anak-anak seluruh kategori. Sebagian bingkisan sembako kami bagikan pada anak-anak, sebagian lagi kami masak bersama untuk menu sehat pada Sabtu II Januari 2013.

Terimakasih banyak atas kebahagiaan dan keceriaan yang telah dibagi oleh Kak Maureen dan keluarga bagi anak-anak Cakung. Kiranya Tuhan senantiasa memberikan damai sejahtera dan berkat melimpah.

Pada pertengahan Januari 2013, kami mendapat kabar dukacita, meninggalnya Bapak dari Aji, akibat parahnya luka tabrak lari yang diderita.

Kami turut berdukacita atas kehilangan yang dialami keluarga Aji dan berdoa untuk kedamaian dan istirahat kekal Bapak dari Aji dan ketabahan bagi keluarga yang ditinggalkan serta ketabahan dan perjuangan Ibu Mamiek dalam menghadapi penyakitnya.

Pada pertengahan Januari 2013, musibah banjir menimpa beberapa keluarga yang tinggal di lahan kebun milik perumahan. Beberapa keluarga harus mengungsi dan pindah dari lokasi. Sebagian masih bertahan di lokasi, sebagian pulang kampong. Beberapa anak mengungsi di rumah belajar selama beberapa hari.

Kami bersyukur rumah belajar yang kami tempati tidak kebanjiran dan masih bisa menjadi tempat penolong bagi warga yang membutuhkan.

Kami mendapat beberapa sumbangan dari sanggar akar bagi para korban banjir di Cakung, yang langsung kami bagikan pada keluarga-keluarga yang membutuhkan.

Pada akhir Januari 2013, kami mendapat bantuan dana dari beberapa teman, Sr. Felicia OSF, Ibu Yuli, Pak Advent, Keluarga Wanda – Eka Mei, yang kami belanjakan kebutuhan pangan untuk diserahkan pada warga Muara Baru yang menderita musibah banjir paling parah, hampir menutupi seluruh rumahnya. Bantuan dana juga kami terima dari Kak Yosepha dan Ibu Lillian. Bantuan yang sudah kami belanjakan bahan pangan ini langsung kami antar pasca banjir pada Minggu, 27 Januari 2013. Kami sangat berterimakasih atas bantuan dan dukungan dari Sanggar Akar, Kak Yosepha, Ibu Lillian, Sr.Felicia OSF, Ibu Yuli, Pak Advent, dan Keluarga Wanda – Eka Mei. Semoga damai sejahtera meliputi hati kita dan kiranya kita senantiasa bisa menjadi berkat bagi sesama.

Pada akhir Januari 2013, kami mendapat kabar dukacita, meninggalnya Kakek dari Yana (fasilitator anak kategori 0). Setelah pemakaman, kami melayat ke rumah duka. Kami turut berdukacita dan berdoa bagi kedamaian dan istirahat kekal Kakek dari Yana, Cynthia, dan Intan serta bagi ketabahan dan kekuatan untuk keluarga besar yang ditinggalkan.

Pada akhir Januari hingga awal Februari 2013, sesuai rencana kegiatan, 26 murid kelas II SMA De Britto Yogyakarta didampingi seorang guru datang ke rumah belajar untuk kegiatan live-in di rumah warga selama beberapa hari.

Kegiatan tahunan dari sekolah yang sudah sejak beberapa tahun lalu dilaksanakan di Jakarta, mewajibkan murid-muridnya untuk mengalami perjuangan hidup warga sederhana di Cakung selama beberapa hari.

Semua anak disebar untuk tinggal di rumah warga, sementara seorang guru pendamping, Bu Dewi yang bertugas menjaga dan mengawasi kegiatan murid-muridnya, tinggal di rumah belajar.

Kami senang dan sangat berterimakasih atas kepercayaan yang diberikan pihak sekolah SMA De Britto, Yogyakarta pada kami dan semoga kerjasama yang telah dijalin dapat terus berlanjut dengan baik.

Kegiatan Belajar Alternatif

Kegiatan belajar di rumah belajar dimulai pada Jumat I Januari 2013 dengan masih dihadiri oleh sedikit anak karena sebagian besar warga pulang kampong. Anak-anak mulai banyak berkumpul untuk belajar pada Sabtu I Januari 2013. Kegiatan belajar di Cakung sawah dimulai pada Selasa II Januari 2013 karena Selasa I adalah libur Tahun Baru.

Jadwal kegiatan belajar 2013 di Komunitas Anak Belajar, adalah sebagai berikut:

Selasa : kegiatan belajar di Cakung sawah
Jumat dan Sabtu : kegiatan belajar di rumah belajar
Minggu II dan IV : kegiatan belajar di Muara Baru

Kegiatan belajar di Cakung sawah yang pada tahun lalu diadakan dua kali seminggu, kini menjadi sekali seminggu, sedangkan kegiatan belajar di Muara Baru yang biasanya dilakukan setiap hari Minggu, kini dilakukan setiap bulan pada Minggu II dan IV.

a. Komunitas Anak Cakung

Kepengurusan dan peraturan serta kesepakatan baru mulai dijalankan.

Diawali oleh petugas buku tabungan, Nisa, yang membuka kegiatan menabung dan mencatatnya, setelah itu tim pengurus perawatan rumah belajar dan kebersihan anak mulai bekerja dengan menyapu ruangan, membereskan buku-buku, meraut pensil-pensil, termasuk pensil warna, membantu anak-anak kecil gunting kuku dan mengatur barisan anak-anak sebelum mencuci tangan, hingga setiap dua anak mendapat giliran untuk cuci tangan di kamar mandi. Lorong kecil di samping kiri rumah belajar digunakan untuk anak lewat setelah mereka cuci tangan dan mengelap tangan, agar lantai rumah belajar tidak basah dan kotor.

Kegiatan ini diakhiri setelah anak-anak pulang, dengan membersihkan rumah belajar, meraut pensil-pensil, dan mengisi tinta spidol yang habis. Seluruh tim pengurus program membantu dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini.

Setiap hari Selasa, para fasilitator berkumpul untuk evaluasi dan mempersiapkan bahan dan materi belajar untuk hari Jumat dan Sabtu.

b. Komunitas Muara Baru

Kegiatan belajar dimulai pada Minggu II Januari, tepatnya pada Minggu, 13 Januari 2013. Sedikit anak yang bisa mengikuti kegiatan belajar karena musim hujan yang tidak bersahabat, sehingga anak memilih untuk tinggal di rumah. Kegiatan belajar didampingi oleh dua fasilitator.

Pada Minggu IV Januari, tepatnya pada Minggu, 27 Januari 2013, kami hanya bisa berkunjung ke rumah belajar dan rumah warga untuk memberi bantuan pangan pasca banjir. Informasi banjir di wilayah kegiatan belajar anak-anak kami peroleh pada Minggu III Januari, setelah musibah banjir besar. Informasi lain kami peroleh dari media cetak dan kami sendiri tidak mungkin menembus wilayah banjir dengan ketinggian mencapai hampir 1 meter.

Ruang kegiatan belajar seluruhnya terendam banjir, demikian pula dengan rumah-rumah warga. Selama musibah banjir beberapa hari, sejak pertengahan Januari 2013, listrik dan air di wilayah Muara Baru tidak berfungsi. Sebagian besar warga yang memiliki rumah tingkat, tinggal dan beraktifitas di lantai atas rumahnya hingga air surut.

Saat kunjungan kami kesana, sebagian besar warga sedang beres-beres dan membersihkan rumahnya dari sampah-sampah pasca banjir. Air bersih baru mulai dialirkan sejak Sabtu, 26 Januari 2013.

Hari kedatangan kami membawa bantuan pangan, kegiatan belajar ditiadakan. Beberapa anak masih sibuk membantu orang tuanya membersihkan rumahnya.

Warga banyak bercerita musibah banjir tahun ini, yang mulai terjadi saat turun hujan malam hari, banjir perlahan-lahan naik tinggi dan listrik tidak berfungsi. Para warga dan anak-anak diwakili oleh Bu Herda dan keluarganya mengucapkan banyak terimakasih atas bantuan pangan yang telah mereka terima. Mereka sangat bersyukur dan berterimakasih atas bantuan pangan yang diperoleh mengingat harga bahan pangan pasca banjir di wilayah mereka melonjak tinggi.

Kami berdoa agar situasi segera kembali normal dan masyarakat dapat mulai beraktifitas kembali seperti sedia kala.

Kami ucapkan terimakasih banyak atas kerjasama para fasilitator, volunteer, anak-anak dan warga Cakung dan Muara Baru, terutama pada Indri, Yana, Lisna, Riska, Bu Mar’ah, dan anak-anak pengurus program, serta Bu Herda di Muara Baru dan para Ibu warga Cakung.

Perpustakaan

Kegiatan perpustakaan mulai berjalan pada Selasa II Januari 2013 dikoordinir oleh Intan, yang tahun lalu masih dijabat olehnya, dibantu tim pengurus program.

Kegiatan sepanjang bulan ini adalah mengatur lemari dan menyampul buku-buku yang sudah diregistrasi.

Mulai tahun ini kegiatan registrasi dilakukan tidak lagi tercatat manual melainkan diketik dalam computer dan setelah selesai diketik, langsung diprint. Adanya bantuan computer, melatih anak untuk belajar membiasakan diri menggunakan computer.

Akhirnya kami ucapkan terimakasih banyak atas perhatian dan ketekunan koordinator dan tim program perpustakaan.

Kegiatan Peningkatan Gizi Anak

Kegiatan ini dimulai pada Sabtu I Januari 2013 dengan menu telur rebus. Kegiatan ketrampilan anak kategori III pada Sabtu I adalah wedang jahe. Selesai makan bersama menu sehat, anak-anak kategori III belajar membuat wedang jahe, yang ditambah dengan kacang tanah dan roti, yang hampir menyerupai sekoteng.

Pada tahun 2013 ini, koordinator kegiatan peningkatan gizi anak dipercayakan pada Tia. Mulai tahun ini seluruh persiapan hingga pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan sepenuhnya oleh anak-anak kategori III. Para fasilitator hanya bertugas mendampingi dan mengarahkan.

Adanya kompor memudahkan anak belajar langsung mempersiapkan dan memasak menu sehat yang sudah mereka jadwalkan. Bahan-bahan menu sehat diperoleh dari kebun dan pasar terdekat dan saat pengolahan menu sehat, anak-anak belajar untuk tidak menggunakan bahan-bahan berbahaya bagi kesehatan, seperti bahan penyedap rasa.

Setiap Jumat selesai kegiatan belajar, anak-anak kategori III berkumpul untuk mencatat resep, membuat daftar belanja, membagi tugas pelaksanaan dan tugas membawa perlengkapan masak.

Pada Sabtu II Januari 2013, anak-anak kategori III mempersiapkan menu sehat sup telur puyuh, pada Sabtu III Januari 2013, menu sehat papaya agar-agar, sedangkan pada Sabtu IV Januari 2013, menu sehatnya adalah perkedel tempe.

Akhirnya, kami berterimakasih pada koordinator dan tim pengurus program, yang telah mempersiapkan menu sehat dengan baik selama Januari 2013.

Beasiswa

Pada bulan ini, kegiatan beasiswa dilakukan untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan pendidikan anak dari perlengkapan belajar dan rental internet bagi anak-anak penerima beasiswa untuk sekolah dasar dan universitas.

Pada awal Januari 2013, setelah libur Tahun Baru, seorang penerima beasiswa tingkat universitas menjalankan ujian akhir semester I, yang dimulai pada Senin, 7 – Jumat, 18 Januari 2013, dan beberapa hari setelah itu ia mengikuti kegiatan kampus, Accounting Gathering selama beberapa hari. Libur semester I berlangsung selama 1 bulan, namun pada awal Februari 2013, mulai dilaksanakan registrasi kuliah semester II. Nilai ujian semester I diumumkan secara online pada awal Februari 2013.

Salah seorang anak penerima beasiswa untuk sekolah dasar, Firman, baru mengambil raportnya setelah masuk dari libur Natal dan Tahun Baru. Hasil raportnya kurang memuaskan. Guru kelasnya mengevaluasi Firman sebagai anak yang kurang dapat perhatian di rumahnya, baik dalam pendampingan belajar maupun tugas-tugas sekolah.

Kini Firman tinggal di rumah belajar dengan jadwal kegiatan rumah belajar yang teratur, mulai dari pagi hingga malam hari, dengan waktu belajar yang jelas didampingi oleh Kakak-kakak fasilitator yang tinggal di rumah belajar.

Sekalipun Firman hanya hidup dengan Neneknya yang hampir tidak bisa melihat, dan tidak mendapat perhatian dari Bapak Ibunya, kami berharap didampingi oleh Kakak-Kakak fasilitator, ia semakin merasakan cinta dan perhatian dari orang lain, sehingga hidupnya dan prestasi belajarnya menjadi lebih baik lagi.

Terimakasih kami pada Kakak-Kakak fasilitator dan teman-teman yang berkenan rutin membantu penyelenggaraan program beasiswa ini. Kami berharap kerjasama ini dapat terus berlanjut dan menjadi bekal yang berguna bagi masa depan anak-anak.

Rencana kegiatan di bulan Februari 2013 ini adalah :

1. Kegiatan Belajar
Kegiatan wajib menabung anak diikuti dengan wajib bawa bekal (yang disiapkan oleh orang tua, bukan jajanan warung) setiap waktu kegiatan belajar untuk menghentikan kebiasaan jajan anak.

Kegiatan peningkatan ekonomi bagi para remaja Cakung dilakukan dengan pembuatan kartu paper quilling Valentine sejak minggu terakhir Januari hingga minggu II Februari 2013.

2. Kegiatan Peningkatan Gizi Anak
Persiapan bahan-bahan menu sehat dan pembelian susu.

3. Perpustakaan
Kegiatan penyampulan buku dan penataan buku-buku dalam lemari.

Akhirnya, kami ucapkan banyak terimakasih pada teman-teman yang telah banyak mendukung dalam doa dan dana, tenaga, maupun material untuk terwujudnya program pendidikan alternatif Komunitas Anak Belajar sepanjang bulan ini.

Terimakasih kami pada Kak Maureen Lintong dan keluarga, Sanggar Akar, Kak Linda dan keluarga, Sr. Felicia, OSF, Bu Yuli, Pak Advent, Keluarga Wanda – Eka Mei, Kak Yosepha Dua Donna dan Ibu Lillian atas bantuan dana dan material yang telah kami terima, baik bagi anak-anak, untuk operasional rumah belajar maupun bagi warga korban bencana banjir di Cakung dan Muara Baru.

Progress Report of Children Learning Community on December 2012

Dear friends,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013.
We wish the King of Peace always reigns in our heart and touches us to share love so the world will be better in 2013.

In December, the Children Learning Community have long holiday regarding the end of the 3rd quarterly learning activities, so we fill the holiday with some evaluations, such as learning program, curriculum, organization evaluations and arrangement of learning program and curriculum of 2013.

By the inisiative of friends of Magis on Tuesday, December 4th, 2012, we have honour being visited by the Marionette Insect Circus from England. The children from the community and neighborhood enjoyed the performance of puppet show.

The performance started about 2 PM for 30 minutes. After the show, the children accompanied by their parents went home one by one while we gave the biscuits for them. For the older children from 10 years old above, they have opportunity to play the puppets. They were a little doubt to play the puppets at first, because the puppets look like the real ones, but after a while and being encouraged by the guests and facilitators, they want to play the puppets.

There were kinds of wooden puppets being played, such as the ant puppet which good at violin playing, the butterfly puppet which good at ballet dancing, the caterpillar puppets which energetic creeping into the nest and came out to be the beautiful butterfly, and also other puppets.

In the afternoon, the guests and the friends of MaGis were leaving. We had pictures together. Thank you very much for the rare opportunity for the children. Thank you very much for your visiting, especially for the guests, Ms. Angguni, Ms. Meilita, and Ms. Meltari. We hope our cooperation will continue well.

On Wednesday, December 12th, 2012, we were visited by our friends, who accompanied by Kak Debby. Mrs. Ann Djuzman and her husband have time in their holiday to Indonesia, visited the children in Learning House. The children gathered in Learning House. We introduced each other and after that, the children sang the children songs and performed their dance, ‘Rampak Gendang’ to greet Mrs. Ann Djuzman and her husband. Mrs. Ann Djuzman enjoyed the nostalgic children songs which rare to sing by the children now, such as ‘Menanam Jagung’ (Planting Corn), ‘Balonku’ (My balloons), ‘Naik Becak’ (Into the Becak, Indonesian traditional transportation).

After that, Mrs.Ann gave us the donation from Angga, Rixie, and John. The children accompanied them going to the field and made pictures, also Mrs. Ann talked to the mothers who accompanied their children.

In the evening, Mrs.Ann Djuzman and her husband were leaving. We were so glad and thankful for their visiting. After so long just reading the monthly report, finally Mrs. Ann Djuzman have a chance to meet the children and their parents directly although not all children could come.

On Sunday, December 16th, 2012, we had a year end organization reflection activity. The theme of this activity was learning from nature. Mrs. Alvieni lead the activity and involved the team of learning program and facilitators as participants.

The activity started about 10.30 AM. We learned the leadership and cooperation from nature. The leader should be the example of the members, faithful to serve others. We learned from water which never end, always watering earth, giving life to all creatures.

The good leader should be the example for the members. We learn to be a good leader from stars in the sky. The stars always shine and be the direction for us, especially when we need them to guide us in the sea. They never tired to shine to all of us in the world.

In cooperation, Mrs. Alvie asked us to order the jigsaw puzzle in groups. All of us cooperated in groups. We have some requirements which have to obey, such as do not ask, do not communicate each other, and do not ask permission. In every jigsaw puzzle, there is one piece which not fit. Because of the requirements, we just saw other groups and find where is our one piece. Finally we have a good idea, if we do not ask, so the first group which almost finish have inisiative to give the unfit piece to the group which belong to. As the piece were given to another group, the rest groups give each other, until every groups have the perfect picture of jigsaw puzzle without communication.

The lesson is let’s begin to give, not to ask for, ‘cause what will be our right will back to us, without asking, and we will receive in time.

Then Mrs.Alvie asked the children to understand the meaning of cooperation, do and responsible for all the tasks by watching the film about nature. Learning from geese, how instinctly guard the V formation while flying together and give a chance to another goose replace the position when it tired.

Learn from ducks, who bravely guarding the packs, honking loudly while in a danger situation, never leaving one of them alone.

Learn from the eagle, which make a living smartly for the chicks, such as catch a turtle, although have a hard shell, the eagle flying high and fall the turtle down so it could take the flesh for the chicks.

We learned about trust and responsibility as a leader in a game; one member of a group cover the eyes, hear the leader’s command to walk along avoiding paper mines. The member should give trust to the leader while the leader should have responsible for the members.

We learned not to give up and always have high motivated, learn from Nick Vujicic in a film, story about him, as an Australian disabled motivator. Although he has no leg and hand perfectly, he could be a successful man who always motivating teenagers and youngers to have hope and future.

By playing games and watching films, we learned to be a leader and discussed everything about, especially learning from nature.

After the discussion, we ate our lunch together supported by Ms.Arry Fitriana, KFC.

After that, we had relaxation. The children have hypnotherapy, instructed by Mrs.Alvie.
In the afternoon, the activity has done. We hope through this activity, the children could begin this new year wiser, more confident, and always in high spirit.

Thank you very much to Mrs. Alvie who accompany the Cakung children faithfully each year and support the children’s spiritual development.

Thank you very much to Ms. Arry Fitriana who always support in our activities each year by providing subsistance from KFC.

On Saturday, December 29th, 2012, the children gathered at the learning house to receive the Christmas gifts providing by Laftavi family through the kindness of Tontey family.
Although not all of the children could gathered and received the gift, because of the holiday and flood in their area, they still have joy.
They were so happy and thankful to receive the Christmas gifts.

They learned the meaning of tolerance by shaking hands in greeting their Christian friends by turns. A moslem child, Natalia who have birthday on Christmas day, celebrated together with us. The children sang ‘Happy Birthday to You’ and ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ repeatly until the last turn.

After receiving the gifts, the children came home. Some facilitators brought the gifts to the children who couldn’t come because of flood.

Thank you very much to Laftavi Family and Tontey Family for giving joy and spirit of sharing.
We hope our friendship and cooperation could continue well.

Alternative Learning Activities

The learning activities in December have vacation. In December, we held evaluation and arrangement of program and curriculum of 2013.

a. Cakung Children Community

In December, learning activities have long vacation after the children from all categories have finished the 3rd quarterly learning evaluation on Saturday, December 1st, 2012.

The evaluations started since the early December. After the learning evaluation, the facilitators & the coordinator & team of program activities gathered to make schedules. We held the meetings every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.


b. Muara Baru Community

The learning activity held once in December 2012, accompanied by two facilitators.

On week II of December 2012 until week I of January 2013, the learning activities have vacation according to the schedule of evaluation and arrangement of program and curriculum of 2013.

We thank all the collaborative works between the facilitators, the volunteers, the children and residents of Cakung and Muara Baru, especially to Mrs. Herda at Muara Baru, Mala, Indri, Yana, Riska, Ms. Uju, Mrs. Mar’ah, Ms. Qori’ah, and the children coordinator program.

Bibliotheque

The library program have vacation in December 2012 according to the vacation of learning activities of Children Learning Community.

In the early December 2012, the coordinator and team of library program were busy to order the reading books into the shelves as the learning house already renovated. It took some days, before the schedule of meetings.

Finally we are thankful for the attention and the perseverance of the team.

Nutrition Improvement Program for Children

In December 2012, the nutrition improvement program have long holiday according to the vacation of learning activities of Children Learning Community.


Scholarship Program

In this month, the need of some learning materials for the elementary and university students increased. They were such as student books and copy learning materials. Beside that, a university student need additional fee for 3 credits semester I.

In the early January 2013, after the New Year’s holiday, a scholarship student in the university followed the examination of the 1st semester, while for some elementary student have their school report, before the Christmas holiday. Their marks are good, but the school didn’t make rank for all students.

Thank you very much to our friends who would like to support the program regularly. We hope the collaboration will continue well and become the worth provide for the children future.

January 2013 Activity Plan

1. The inauguration of the coordinator and the team of program activities of Children Learning Community 2013 on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013.
2. The beginning of the 1st quarterly of learning activities 2013 on Friday, January 4th, 2013.
3. Live-in Exposure of the students of De Britto High School, Yogyakarta on Monday, January 28th , 2013 to Friday, February 1st, 2013 at Cakung.

Laporan Kegiatan Komunitas Anak Belajar pada Desember 2012

Salam jumpa teman-teman yang baik,

Selamat Natal dan Tahun Baru 2013.
Kiranya Sang Raja Damai senantiasa bertakhta di dalam hati kita dan menggerakkan setiap kita untuk berbagi cinta agar tercipta dunia yang lebih baik lagi pada tahun 2013 ini.

Sepanjang Desember ini, kegiatan belajar Komunitas Anak Belajar diliburkan mengingat kegiatan belajar Catur Wulan III telah selesai dan selama libur kegiatan belajar, kami isi dengan berbagai evaluasi, baik evaluasi program, kurikulum, pribadi maupun penyusunan program kegiatan dan kurikulum 2013.

Atas inisiatif teman-teman dari kelompok MaGis, pada Selasa, 4 Desember 2012, kami mendapat kehormatan dengan diadakannya panggung boneka dari duta seni teater boneka dari Inggris, The Marionette Insect Circus. Anak-anak dari wilayah sekitar Cakung berkumpul untuk menghadiri acara ini.

Acara dimulai sekitar pukul 14.00 dan berlangsung sekitar 30 menit. Selesai acara, anak-anak ditemani orang tua pulang sambil kami bagikan biscuit. Sementara beberapa anak besar, usia 10 tahun ke atas, diajak untuk belajar memegang dan memainkan boneka. Anak-anak ragu-ragu untuk memegang boneka kayu, yang menyerupai makhluk hidup karena dimainkan dengan trampil oleh Kakak-kakak tamu hingga akhirnya anak-anak yakin dan berani untuk berdiri memainkan boneka kayu.

Ada beragam boneka kayu yang dimainkan, boneka semut yang pandai bermain biola, boneka kupu-kupu yang pandai menari balet, boneka ulat yang merayap masuk ke dalam sarangnya hingga keluar menjadi kupu-kupu, dan beberapa boneka kayu lainnya.

Sore hari para tamu dan kakak-kakak kelompok MaGis pulang. Kami berfoto bersama sebelum pulang.
Terimakasih banyak atas kesempatan langka yang didapat dari kehadiran para tamu. Terimakasih banyak pada kakak-kakak kelompok MaGis, terutama pada Kak Angguni, Kak Meilita, juga Kak Meltari. Semoga kerjasama yang telah dijalin ini, dapat terus berlanjut dengan baik.

Pada Rabu, 12 Desember 2012, kami kedatangan tamu, yang datang diantar oleh Kak Debby. Ibu Ann Djuzman bersama Bapak menyisihkan waktu liburnya di Indonesia untuk berkunjung ke rumah belajar Cakung. Anak-anak berkumpul sejak siang hari. Kami berkenalan dan anak-anak menyanyikan lagu anak-anak serta menari Rampak Gendang menyambut Ibu Ann Djuzman dan Bapak. Ibu Ann tampak menikmati suasana gembira anak-anak yang dengan riang menyanyikan beberapa lagu, ‘Menanam Jagung’, ‘Balonku’, ‘Naik Becak’. Nampaknya Ibu Ann benar-benar bernostalgia dengan lagu anak-anak Indonesia, yang sudah langka dinyanyikan oleh anak-anak masa kini.

Pada saat itu juga, Ibu Ann menyampaikan sumbangan dana yang dititipkan padanya dari Kakak-kakak; Angga, Rixie, dan John.

Setelah itu, anak-anak menemani Bapak dan Ibu ke kebun untuk berfoto-foto dan berbincang-bincang dengan warga. Kami berfoto bersama. Ibu Ann juga tidak ingin kehilangan kesempatan untuk berfoto dengan para Ibu Cakung yang hadir menemani anak-anaknya.

Menjelang sore hari, Ibu Ann dan Bapak pamit pulang. Kami senang dan berterimakasih atas kunjungan ini. Akhirnya Ibu Ann mendapatkan kesempatan langsung untuk bertemu anak-anak dan para orang tua setelah sekian lama hanya bisa membaca laporan bulanan yang rutin kami kirim setiap bulan.

Pada hari Minggu, 16 Desember 2012, kami mengadakan kegiatan refleksi organisasi akhir tahun. Tema refleksi akhir tahun ini adalah Belajar dari Alam. Kegiatan dibawakan oleh Kak Alvieni dan melibatkan seluruh anak pengurus program dan fasilitator sebagai peserta.

Acara dimulai sekitar pukul 11.00 WIB. Kami belajar masalah kepemimpinan dan kerjasama dari alam. Pemimpin mesti menjadi teladan bagi anggotanya, setia melayani. Kami belajar dari air yang ada di muka bumi, tidak pernah habis walau mengaliri daratan, selalu memberi kehidupan bagi seluruh makhluk hidup.

Pemimpin yang baik mesti menjadi teladan bagi anggotanya. Dari bintang-bintang, kami belajar menjadi pemimpin yang baik. Bintang selalu bersinar menjadi penunjuk arah bagi seluruh makhluk hidup, tanpa pandang bulu. Ia tanpa kenal lelah bercahaya dan terus berkelap-kelip.

Dalam hal kerjasama, Kak Alvie mengajak anak-anak untuk menyusun puzzle dalam kelompok. Seluruh anak saling membantu untuk menyelesaikan susunan gambar. Beberapa persyaratan yang mesti dipatuhi, tidak boleh meminta, tidak boleh ada komunikasi, dan tidak boleh minta ijin. Dalam susunan gambar, ternyata sepotong gambar tidak cocok dengan potongan lainnya. Karena tidak boleh komunikasi dan meminta, kami hanya bisa melihat-lihat potongan gambar kami yang kurang pada kelompok-kelompok lain dan mencari tahu potongan gambar yang tidak sesuai milik kelompok mana. Akhirnya muncul pemikiran, bila tidak boleh meminta, maka kelompok pertama yang harus memulai lebih dulu untuk memberi potongan gambar yang tidak cocok pada kelompok yang membutuhkannya. Begitu potongan gambar diberi, bergeraklah kelompok lain untuk mulai memberi potongan gambar yang bukan milik mereka, hingga seluruh kelompok bisa melengkapinya tanpa perlu komunikasi dan meminta.

Pelajaran yang bisa ditarik dari sini adalah mulailah memberi, bukan mengharap diberi. Karena apa yang menjadi hak kita akan kembali pada kita, tanpa harus meminta, tinggal menunggu saatnya.

Kemudian Kak Alvie mengajak anak-anak untuk mengenal makna kerjasama, tugas dan tanggung jawab melalui film yang diputar. Belajar dari angsa, bagaimana secara instink menjaga formasi V saat terbang bersama dan memberi kesempatan pada angsa lain yang lelah dan pindah dari formasi untuk diisi oleh angsa lain yang bertukar posisi. Belajar dari bebek, yang gagah berani melindungi kelompoknya dengan bersuara keras saat terancam bahaya, tidak meninggalkan satu pun anggota kelompoknya sendirian.

Belajar dari elang, yang memiliki banyak akal untuk menghidupi anaknya, dengan makanan sesulit apa pun yang ia peroleh, seperti kura-kura dengan tempurung keras, bisa terbelah ketika si elang membawa mangsanya terbang tinggi dan menghempaskannya ke bawah agar bisa pecah dan diambil dagingnya untuk makanan bagi anak-anaknya.

Kami belajar masalah kepercayaan dan tanggung jawab sebagai pemimpin dalam permainan kelompok, dimana salah satu anak dengan mata ditutup, dituntun oleh pemimpin melalui perintah yang diberikan. Jalan yang akan dilalui, penuh dengan ranjau kertas. Untuk menghindari kena ranjau kertas, pemimpin mesti jelas memberikan perintah. Demikian pula, anggota mesti menaruh kepercayaan penuh atas perintah sang pemimpin.

Kami belajar untuk pantang menyerah dan selalu memiliki motivasi tinggi, belajar dari film yang berkisah pengalaman seorang motivator Australia, Nick Vujicic yang tidak memiliki kaki dan tangan yang sempurna, namun bisa menjadi orang sukses yang setia memotivasi remaja dan anak muda untuk tetap memiliki harapan dan cita-cita.

Melalui permainan dan tontonan, anak-anak diajak untuk berdialog dan memahami pelajaran yang bisa diambil dari alam.
Selesai berdialog, kami makan siang bersama dari bantuan Kak Arry Fitriana, KFC.

Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan relaksasi, anak-anak menjalankan hipnoterapi bersama-sama, dipimpin oleh Kak Alvie.

Sore hari kegiatan refleksi akhir tahun Komunitas Anak Belajar selesai. Kami berharap melalui kegiatan ini, anak-anak bisa memulai tahun yang baru ini dengan lebih arif, langkah penuh percaya diri dan tetap semangat.

Terimakasih banyak kami ucapkan pada Kak Alvieni yang setia dari tahun ke tahun menemani anak-anak Cakung dan mendukung perkembangan mental spiritual anak menjadi lebih baik.

Terimakasih banyak kami ucapkan pada Kak Arry Fitriana yang tetap setia mendukung kegiatan-kegiatan yang kami adakan melalui bantuan konsumsi dari KFC.

Pada Sabtu, 29 Desember 2012, anak-anak berkumpul di rumah belajar untuk menerima bingkisan Natal yang disediakan oleh Keluarga Laftavi melalui Keluarga Tontey.

Walau tidak semua anak bisa berkumpul pada siang itu karena masih masa liburan dan musim hujan yang menyebabkan beberapa rumah warga kebanjiran, anak-anak tetap tidak kehilangan keceriaannya.

Mereka antusias menerima bingkisan Natal yang dibagikan. Mereka senang dan berterimakasih atas bingkisan yang mereka terima dari Pak Mehdi dan Bu Margareth.

Saat berkumpul, anak-anak belajar toleransi dengan berbaris memberi ucapan salam Natal dan Tahun Baru pada teman-teman yang beragama Kristen. Seorang anak muslim, Natalia yang berulang tahun saat Natal, kami rayakan bersama-sama dan sambil bersalaman, anak-anak menyanyikan lagu ‘Happy Birthday To You’ dan ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ bergantian.

Selesai dibagikan bingkisan, anak-anak pamit pulang. Para fasilitator mengantarkan bingkisan bagi anak-anak yang tidak bisa hadir karena banjir.

Semoga persahabatan dan kerjasama yang telah dijalin ini dapat terus berlanjut dengan baik.

Kegiatan Belajar Alternatif

Kegiatan belajar selama bulan Desember ini diliburkan. Sepanjang Desember kegiatan diisi dengan evaluasi dan penyusunan rencana program dan kurikulum.

a. Komunitas Anak Cakung

Sepanjang Desember ini, kegiatan belajar diliburkan setelah anak-anak dari seluruh kategori menyelesaikan evaluasi belajar catur wulan III pada Sabtu, 1 Desember 2012.

Rangkaian kegiatan evaluasi mulai berlangsung pada awal Desember. Selesai evaluasi belajar anak-anak, para fasilitator & anak pengurus program berkumpul untuk membuat jadwal dan rencana kegiatan.

Evaluasi dan penyusunan program dan kurikulum dilaksanakan setiap hari Selasa, Jumat, dan Sabtu.

b. Komunitas Muara Baru

Kegiatan belajar berlangsung satu kali dalam bulan Desember 2012, didampingi oleh dua fasilitator.

Minggu II Desember 2012 hingga Minggu I Januari 2013, kegiatan belajar diliburkan mengingat anak-anak pengurus program dan para fasilitator mesti evaluasi dan menyusun program dan kurikulum 2013.

Kami ucapkan terimakasih banyak atas kerjasama para fasilitator, volunteer, anak-anak dan warga Cakung dan Muara Baru, terutama pada Mala, Indri, Yana, Riska, Kak Uju, Bu Mar’ah, Kak Qori’ah, dan anak-anak pengurus program, serta Bu Herda di Muara Baru dan para Ibu warga Cakung.

Perpustakaan

Kegiatan perpustakaan selama bulan Desember diliburkan sehubungan dengan liburnya kegiatan pendidikan alternatif Komunitas Anak Belajar.

Pada awal Desember, tim program perpustakaan sibuk menata buku-buku bacaan ke dalam lemari dan rak buku setelah rumah belajar selesai direnovasi. Kegiatan diselesaikan selama beberapa hari mengingat selama Desember, kegiatan dipenuhi dengan jadwal evaluasi program dan kurikulum serta penyusunan program dan kurikulum untuk tahun 2013.

Akhirnya kami ucapkan terimakasih banyak atas perhatian dan ketekunan koordinator dan tim program perpustakaan.

Kegiatan Peningkatan Gizi Anak

Selama Desember 2012 ini, kegiatan peningkatan gizi anak diliburkan sehubungan dengan liburnya kegiatan pendidikan alternatif Komunitas Anak Belajar.

Beasiswa

Pada bulan ini, kegiatan beasiswa dilakukan untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan pendidikan anak dari perlengkapan belajar dan pembelian buku tulis serta fotokopi dan rental internet bagi anak-anak penerima beasiswa untuk sekolah dasar dan universitas. Selain itu juga, ada tambahan biaya kuliah untuk 3 SKS pada semester I ini untuk seorang penerima beasiswa di universitas.

Pada awal Januari 2013, setelah libur Tahun Baru, seorang penerima beasiswa tingkat universitas akan menjalankan ujian akhir semester I. Sementara bagi beberapa penerima beasiswa tingkat sekolah dasar sudah menerima raport setelah ujian semester ganjil, sebelum libur Natal. Nilai rapor anak-anak cukup memuaskan, tidak ditentukan oleh pihak sekolah, peringkat berapa di kelas.

Terimakasih kami pada teman-teman yang berkenan rutin membantu penyelenggaraan program beasiswa ini. Kami berharap kerjasama ini dapat terus berlanjut dan menjadi bekal yang berguna bagi masa depan anak-anak.

Rencana kegiatan di bulan Januari 2013 ini adalah :

1. Pelantikan pengurus program Komunitas Anak Belajar 2013 pada Rabu, 2 Januari 2013.
2. Dimulainya kegiatan belajar Komunitas Anak Belajar caturwulan I 2013 pada Jumat, 4 Januari 2013.
3. Kegiatan Live-in siswa SMA De Britto Yogyakarta pada Senin, 28 Januari – 1 Februari 2013 di wilayah rumah belajar, Cakung.

Akhirnya, kami ucapkan banyak terimakasih pada teman-teman yang telah banyak mendukung dalam doa dan dana, tenaga, maupun material untuk terwujudnya program pendidikan alternatif Komunitas Anak Belajar sepanjang bulan ini.

Terimakasih kami pada Bu Risa Anwar, Bu Rina Anwar, & Meilita atas sumbangan pakaian layak pakai, alat tulis, perlengkapan mandi, dan snack kegiatan panggung boneka pada Selasa, 4 Desember 2012.

Terimakasih kami pada Keluarga Pak Mehdi dan Bu Margareth Laftavi atas bantuan dana untuk pembelian 2 set komputer, 2 stabilizer, 1 printer, 1 rak tape recorder, 1 kompor gas, 1 tabung gas dan regulator serta bingkisan Natal untuk anak-anak Komunitas Anak Belajar melalui Keluarga Tontey.

Terimakasih pada Kak Meilan dan biara St. Maria, Juanda atas bantuan pakaian layak pakai, juga Kak Arry Fitriana atas bantuan konsumsi siang kegiatan refleksi akhir tahun Komunitas Anak Cakung pada Minggu, 16 Desember 2012.

Terimakasih kami atas bantuan 1 set computer dan 2 rak buku dari Kak Sari Pelengkahu. Kami berterimakasih juga pada Ms.Havas atas bantuan boneka, mainan anak-anak, buku bacaan anak, dan biaya transport pengambilan sumbangan. Doa kami menyertaimu dan keluarga agar mendapatkan kesuksesan di tahun yang baru ini.

Progress Report of Children Learning Community on November 2012

Dearest friends,

Thank you very much for all of your attention and support to the Children Learning Community so the programs could run well in November 2012.

In the middle of November, exactly on Thursday, November 15th, 2012, we have guest, Mrs.Inonk, who visited us on her holiday in Indonesia. Accompanied by Kak Debby, she visited the learning house and introduced the children at Muara Baru and Cakung.

At Cakung, the children greeted her by performing musical instrument (recorder) and singing, also ‘Rampak Gendang’ dance from Aceh, her homeland. After that, we enjoyed our lunch (rice, mixed vegetable with spicy coconut slices, fried fish, and salted egg) which prepared by the children and some ladies in Cakung. After lunch, we chatted and went to the field and met some parents.

Thank you very much to Mrs.Inonk and Mrs.Ison who would like to visit us and know more about the people. We hope our collaboration could run sustainly.

At the end of November 2012, we have permit to prolong our rented house from the owner. Now, we moved everything so the empty house could renovate well. We are so thankful for having opportunity to live in the house, although anytime we could get out if the house will sold.

The rented house will sold by the owner in a big amount, 300 million rupiahs. Although the price is negotiable and could be paid twice, we still don’t have much money to buy.

We hope our friends would like to support us for the realization of permanent house for the children.

We hope you all understand the situation and would like to support us.


Alternative Learning Activities

Now, the learning activities at Cakung are four days in a week. Every Tuesday and Thursday, we accompany the children at Cakung farm area, while every Friday and Saturday at the Learning House.

The learning activities at Muara Baru is every Sunday.


a. Cakung Children Community

In November 2012, the learning activities could run well.

In the middle of November, we have a holiday regarding moslem holiday.

On Thursday, November 15th, 2012, although it was holiday, the children were gathering at the learning house to greet Mrs. Inonk and Mrs. Ison who would like to visit the children.

Because that was a holiday and the children would like to gather at the learning house, so we give them one free day a day after.

In the early December 2012, exactly on Saturday, December 1st, 2012, we had learning evaluation for all the children from every categories. The learning evaluation was held at the house of one of the facilitators because the learning house was still renovating. The evaluation was facilitated by Kak Qori’ah, Kak Uju, Mrs. Mar’ah, Kak Indri, and Kak Mala.

The end of the learning evaluation on the 3rd quarter at Cakung is the end of the learning activities in 2012. During December 2012, the team of program activities and the facilitator will hold the annual evaluation, such as program evaluation, curriculum evaluation, and personal reflection.

The life-skill activity is regularly done every Tuesday, at the same day of the library administrative task. On Christmas & New Year seasons, it focused on making paper quilling cards. You could see our productions at our blog; http://cakungchildrencreation.blogspot.com.


b. Muara Baru Community

In November 2012, the learning activity run well, accompanied by two facilitators.

Before learning, the children prepare the place and the equipments well.

In the middle of November 2012, we had a guest, Mrs. Inonk who visited the children’s house & the place for learning. Mrs. Inonk chatted with the family and introduced some children there.

We thank all the collaborative works between the facilitators, the volunteers, the children and residents of Cakung and Muara Baru, especially to Mrs. Herda, Mala, Indri, Riska, Ms. Uju, Mrs. Mar’ah, Ms. Qori’ah, and the children coordinator program.


Bibliotheque

In November 2012, the activity in week I of November 2012 was covering the books supported last month.

Until the end of November 2012, the total of the registrated books in 2012 are 678.

At the end of November 2012, the team of library program was busy packing the books into the cardboards before we moved all the stuff and equipments.

Finally we are thankful for the attention and the perseverance of the team.

Nutrition Improvement Program for Children

In November 2012, the nutrition improvement activities run well.

Besides drinking milk, the healthy menu for this month was hard-boiled egg, mangoes, salted egg and kangkung, also steamed cassava with coconut slices & sprinkled sugar.

The variety of healthy menu also based on the beginning of the rainy season which there are more fruits harvest, especially mangoes. The team chose it as the healthy menu on the 2nd Saturday of November 2012.

We thank the team who organised it and to the mothers who had prepared the menu for November 2012.


Scholarship Program

In this month, the need some learning materials for the elementary and university students increased. They were such as student books and copy learning materials. Beside that, a university student need accommodation during her time at campus, where she has to prepare to go to campus in the early morning before the traffic jam and go home in the evening in the traffic jam condition as well.

Thank you very much to our friends who would like to support the program regularly. We hope the collaboration will continue well and become the worth provide for the children future.

December 2012 Activity Plan

1. The end of the learning activities of the 3rd quarter in 2012 by holding the learning evaluation on Saturday, December 1st, 2012.
2. Puppet performance and workshop by the artist from British Council, England on Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 at 2 PM, in the learning house.
3. The team evaluation during December 2012.
4. Annual Personal Reflection for the team & facilitator on Sunday, December 16th, 2012, from 9 AM until evening.
5. Christmas and New Year holidays. The activities will begin on Friday, January 4th, 2013.

Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to all friends who sustainably supporting us in their prayers, donations, materials and time. Without your support, our activities would not be realized.

Laporan Kegiatan Komunitas Anak Belajar pada November 2012

Salam jumpa teman-teman yang baik,

Sepanjang November ini, kegiatan belajar Komunitas Anak Belajar dapat berjalan dengan baik.

Pada pertengahan November, tepatnya Kamis, 15 November 2012, kami kedatangan tamu, Kak Inonk, yang selama beberapa hari ini menghabiskan waktu liburnya di Indonesia. Ditemani Kak Debby, ia mengunjungi tempat belajar dan berkenalan dengan anak-anak di Muara Baru dan di Cakung.

Tiba di Cakung, anak-anak menyambut dengan beberapa lagu yang dimainkan dengan suling dan tarian Rampak Gendang dari Aceh, tanah kelahiran Kak Inonk. Kami berkenalan dan setelah itu, hidangan istimewa khas Cakung menjadi santapan siang Kak Inonk bersama kami semua. Para ibu memasak urap ditemani telur asin dan beberapa ekor ikan mas. Kami menikmati bersama-sama. Selesai santap siang, kami berbincang-bincang sambil melihat-lihat rumah dan kebun warga.

Terimakasih banyak pada Kak Inonk dan Bu Ison yang berkenan datang berkunjung untuk berkenalan dengan anak-anak Cakung. Kami berharap, kerjasama yang telah dijalin dapat terus berlanjut dengan baik.

Pada akhir November 2012, kami memperoleh ijin untuk memperpanjang rumah kontrakan dari pemilik rumah. Kini rumah kami kosongkan sementara, agar bisa dicat dan direnovasi. Kami sangat berterimakasih masih diberi kesempatan untuk tinggal di rumah itu, sekali pun suatu saat kami harus keluar bila rumah yang akan dijual oleh pemiliknya itu laku.

Rumah kontrakan yang merupakan rumah belajar kami ini hendak dijual oleh pemiliknya seharga 300 juta rupiah. Walau harga jual masih bisa dinegosiasi dan boleh mencicil dua kali, namun kami tetap tidak sanggup untuk membelinya karena kami tidak memiliki banyak dana.

Kami berharap teman-teman bersedia membantu demi terwujudnya tempat belajar permanen bagi anak-anak Cakung.

Kiranya teman-teman memahami keadaan ini dan berkenan membantu.


Kegiatan Belajar Alternatif

Kegiatan belajar di Cakung kini berlangsung selama empat hari dalam seminggu. Setiap hari Selasa dan Kamis kegiatan belajar berlangsung di Cakung sawah, sedangkan setiap Jumat dan Sabtu, kegiatan belajar berlangsung di rumah kegiatan Komunitas Anak Belajar.

Sementara di Muara Baru, kegiatan belajar berlangsung setiap hari Minggu.


a. Komunitas Anak Cakung

Sepanjang November ini, kegiatan belajar dapat dilakukan dengan baik, baik di rumah belajar maupun di Cakung sawah.

Pada pertengahan November, kami meliburkan kegiatan belajar anak-anak Cakung sehubungan dengan libur hari besar umat Islam.

Pada Kamis, 15 November 2012, sekali pun hari libur, anak-anak berkumpul di rumah belajar untuk menyambut Kak Inonk dan Bu Ison yang berkunjung ke rumah belajar.

Karena hari itu anak-anak berkumpul di rumah belajar, sekalipun hari libur, maka pada hari Jumat keesokan harinya, kegiatan belajar diliburkan, sebagai pengganti waktu libur di hari Kamis.

Pada awal Desember 2012, tepatnya pada Sabtu, 1 Desember 2012, kami menyelenggarakan evaluasi belajar bagi seluruh kategori.

Kegiatan dilakukan di rumah keluarga Bu Mar’ah karena kondisi rumah belajar yang tidak memungkinkan untuk digunakan. Dibantu oleh para fasilitator, Kak Qori’ah, kak Uju, Bu Mar’ah, dan kak Indri, anak-anak sibuk mengerjakan tugas evaluasi belajar.

Dengan selesainya evaluasi belajar caturwulan III Komunitas Anak Belajar di Cakung, maka berakhir pula lah kegiatan belajar disana.

Sepanjang Desember 2012 nanti, kegiatan akan diisi dengan berbagai evaluasi, baik evaluasi program maupun kurikulum yang melibatkan tim pengurus program dan fasilitator.

Kegiatan ketrampilan rutin dilakukan setiap Selasa disamping kegiatan perpustakaan. Menyambut hari raya Natal dan Tahun Baru, kegiatan ketrampilan mengambil focus pembuatan kartu ucapan. Hasil karya anak-anak Cakung dapat dilihat dalam blog kami, http://cakungchildrencreation.blogspot.com.


b. Komunitas Muara Baru

Kegiatan belajar berlangsung dengan baik selama bulan November 2012, didampingi oleh dua fasilitator.

Sebelum mulai belajar, tempat belajar dan perlengkapan belajar disiapkan dengan baik oleh anak-anak peserta belajar.

Pada pertengahan November 2012, kami kedatangan tamu, Kak Inonk yang berkunjung ke rumah warga, dekat dengan tempat belajar Muara Baru. Kak Inonk berbincang-bincang dengan warga dan berkenalan dengan beberapa anak yang ada disana.

Kami ucapkan terimakasih banyak atas kerjasama para fasilitator, volunteer, anak-anak dan warga Cakung dan Muara Baru, terutama pada Mala, Indri, Riska, Kak Uju, Bu Mar’ah, kak Qori’ah, dan anak-anak pengurus program, serta Bu Herda di Muara Baru dan para Ibu warga Cakung.


Perpustakaan

Kegiatan perpustakaan selama bulan November dilakukan dengan penyampulan buku pada minggu I November 2012.

Hingga akhir November 2012, jumlah buku perpustakaan yang diregistrasi pada tahun ini ada 678 buah.

Pada akhir November, tim program perpustakaan sibuk mengepak buku-buku bacaan ke dalam dus untuk dipindahkan. Karena selama beberapa hari ke depan, rumah belajar akan direnovasi, maka seluruh buku perpustakaan kami keluarkan.

Akhirnya kami ucapkan terimakasih banyak atas perhatian dan ketekunan koordinator dan tim program perpustakaan.


Kegiatan Peningkatan Gizi Anak

Selama November 2012 ini, kegiatan peningkatan gizi anak berlangsung dengan baik.

Selain minum susu rutin, menu sehat bulan ini adalah telur rebus, mangga, telur asin dan sayur kangkung serta singkong rebus ditaburi parutan kelapa dan gula pasir.

Menu yang disiapkan tim pengurus program menyesuaikan dengan kedatangan musim hujan yang disambut oleh musim buah-buahan.
Berlimpahnya mangga di wilayah Cakung, membuat tim pengurus memilih menu sehat pada Sabtu II November 2012 makan mangga
bersama-sama.

Akhirnya, kami berterimakasih pada koordinator dan tim pengurus program serta para Ibu, yang telah membantu mempersiapkan menu
sehat selama bulan November 2012.


Beasiswa

Pada bulan ini, kegiatan beasiswa dilakukan untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan pendidikan anak dari perlengkapan belajar dan pembelian
buku pelajaran serta fotokopi bagi anak-anak penerima beasiswa untuk sekolah dasar dan universitas. Selain itu juga, kegiatan
beasiswa kami lakukan dengan pemenuhan transport dan konsumsi untuk kuliah anak yang memakan waktu untuk bersiap-siap
berangkat pagi hari sebelum mulai padat kendaraan hingga siang atau sore hari pulang kuliah dan tiba di rumah.

Terimakasih kami pada teman-teman yang berkenan rutin membantu penyelenggaraan program beasiswa ini. Kami berharap kerjasama
ini dapat terus berlanjut dan menjadi bekal yang berguna bagi masa depan anak-anak.


Rencana kegiatan di bulan Desember 2012 ini adalah :

1. Berakhirnya kegiatan belajar caturwulan III 2012, dengan diadakannya evaluasi belajar caturwulan III pada Sabtu, 1 Desember 2012.

2. Panggung boneka dan workshop oleh duta seni dari Inggris pada Selasa, 4 Desember 2012, pk.14.00 – selesai, bertempat di rumah belajar Komunitas Anak Belajar.

3. Evaluasi program kegiatan dan kurikulum 2012 oleh tim fasilitator Komunitas Anak Belajar sepanjang bulan Desember 2012 ini.

4. Refleksi Akhir tahun 2012 bagi seluruh tim pengurus dan fasilitator pada Minggu, 16 Desember 2012, pk.09.00 – selesai.

5. Libur hari raya Natal dan Tahun Baru. Kegiatan belajar dimulai kembali pada hari Jumat, 4 Januari 2013.

Progress Report of Children Learning Community on October 2012

Dearest friends,

Thank you very much for all of your attention and support to the Children Learning Community so the activities could run well in October 2012.

In early October, exactly on Saturday, Oct 6th, 2012, we had visitors, friends of alumna St. Ursula high school ’88. They visited and talked to know our and the people of Cakung’s activities. They have plan to hold some collaboration activities.

The children showed their creation, such as life-skill creation and salted egg which they make regularly every week. After the guests visited the Cakung people’s farm area, the children performed their dance learning Rampak Gendang and playing some songs by recorder instrument.

Thank you very much to the friends of Alumna St. Ursula High School who would like to visit us and bring some biscuits. We hope our collaboration could run sustainly.

In mid-October 2012, we have donation to provide the learning equipments from Mr.Mehdi and Mrs.Margareth Laftavi. To increase the spirit of the children’s learning, we bought multi function equipments of tape recorder-DVD player-radio. Now, children could enjoy some CD and English lesson’s cassettes which kept for a long time in the library.

Thank you very much for Laftavi family’s attention and support which meant so much for improving the children’s ability and knowledge. We hope our collaboration could run well and sustain.

Also in Mid-October 2012, we visited Ms. Eka who was in hospital. Ms. Eka is one of our faithful friends since Komunitas Anak Cakung was developing. She is one of our donor who sometime accompany her Marsudirini Elementary students to Cakung children community.

We pray for Ms. Eka for recovering and starting her teaching activities after long leave til mid-November 2012.

As we have October 2012’s schedule to raise fund for the operational activities of Children Learning Community, we followed the bazaar at Salvator Church, Slipi, West Jakarta. The bazaar conducted by the Young Catholics Club for raising fund for their activities from the week III of October 2012 until the end of November 2012. We have some space to sell our product and children’s creation.

It supports us in raising fund and promoting the children’s creation. During October 2012, our famous products are salted egg, beats creation, and some knitting’s creation.

We were glad and thankful to Ms. Lucy Wenehen and the board for their attention and support. May our collaboration run well and sustain.

In mid-September 2012, we found the good location for the permanent learning activities for the children. It is a small house in the 400m2 land near the old location of the learning tent and not so far from the rent house for learning. It is 810 million rupiahs which is so expensive for us who still have less savings. We need the permanent place for the learning activities of the children, while at the end of November we have to rent another house because the owner intend to sell it.

We plan to have the permanent place for learning and for the long term projection to legalize it as a foundation.

We hope you all understand the situation and would like to support us.


Alternative Learning Activities

Now, the learning activities at Cakung are four days in a week. Every Tuesday and Thursday, we accompany the children at Cakung farm area, while every Friday and Saturday at the Learning House.

The learning activities at Muara Baru is every Sunday.


a. Cakung Children Community


In October 2012, the learning activities could run well.


The facilitating of learning are done by the young facilitators who are projected to accompany children to learn. The young facilitators are the children participants at the Learning House and now learn to teach the younger children.

As human being who have moral responsibility, in the early stage, children learn to understand their task and the purpose of their life by developing the habit of cooperation, tolerance, serving and caring every God’s creature well.

Every Friday, the reading library book program is for the children of the 2nd and 3rd categories. After the activities, we give them task according to the ability of the category. For the children of the 2nd category, after reading books, usually the children retold the story, and after that, we make some sentences based on their reading and read off so the children could learn to write. While for the children of the 3rd category, they learn to write in narrative way.

The life-skill activity is regularly done every Tuesday, on the same day of the library administrative task. This activity is in different level from the activities every Friday because the products are for the income accelerating program for the children savings. b. Muara Baru Community

In October 2012, the learning activity run well, accompanied by two facilitators.

Before learning, the children clean the house well. We divide the children in two groups as well as in Cakung farm area. While we provide some equipments according to their needs and they keep it at one of the children's home. It is done because there are some activities beside learning activity in it.

At last Sunday of October 2012, after learning, the children accompanied by the facilitators went to the beach at Muara Baru. They enjoyed the togetherness. Although they live near the sea, they seldom went there, moreover no guards.

We thank all the collaborative works between the facilitators, the volunteers, the children and residents of Cakung and Muara Baru, especially to Mrs. Herda, Yana, Indri, Riska, Ms. Uju, Mrs. Mar’ah, and the children coordinator program.


Bibliotheque

In October 2012, the activity was covering on the books supported last month.

Until the end of October 2012, the total of the registrated books in 2012 are 678.

The presentation of the children reading books is every Saturday based on what their read every Friday. Each children should prepare themselves by summarizing their reading and presenting a day after. We hope all children have knowledge by listening and speaking.

Children are giving speech with pictures from the books, when all of the children drink milk before learning. We have many encyclopedia so during this month, the children still read encyclopedia.

Nutrition Improvement Program for Children


In October 2012, the nutrition improvement activities run well.

Besides drinking milk, the healthy menu for this month was hard-boiled egg, watermelon, bread with chocolate jam, and steamed corn.

The variety of healthy menu also based on the beginning of the rainy season which there are more fruits harvest, especially watermelon in Cakung. The team chose it as the healthy menu on the 2nd Saturday of October 2012.

We thank the team who organised it and to the mothers who had prepared the menu for October 2012.


Scholarship Program

In this month, the needs of some learning materials for the elementary and university students increased. They were such as student books and copy learning materials. Beside that, a university student need accommodation during her time at campus, where she has to prepare to go to campus in the early morning before the traffic jam and go home in the evening in the traffic jam condition as well.

Thank you very much to our friends who would like to support the program regularly. We hope the collaboration will continue well and worthy for the children future.

November 2012 Activity Plan :

1. Finding the rent house for the children learning.
2. Fund raising by marketing the community production.
3. Providing the needs of learning activities, bibliotheque, nourishment improvement, and scholarship programs.
4. Regular learning activities on the 3rd quarter (September – early December 2012).

Every end of Saturday of the month, we hold the meeting cooperation organization which involved the women of Cakung community. In October 2012, we have 1 new participant and now the total is 14. In cooperation, we could buy share and borrow it for every parents need, including the household and running their business.

In this month, we voted the new team. Mrs. Mar’ah as the coordinator, Mrs. Erni as the treasurer, while the previous team, Mrs. Sutini and Mrs. Siti as the cash box and the key holders, so we hope the process of learning could run well, assisted by the previous team.

Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to all friends who sustainably supporting us in their prayers, donations, materials and time. Without your support, our activities would not be realized.

Thanks for the biscuits from Mrs. Widya Yohanes and friends of alumna St. Ursula High School, tape recorder-DVD player-radio from Mr.Mehdi and Mrs.Margareth Laftavi, also for some secondhand clothes from Sr. Annunciata, OSU.
