Dear friends,
We are grateful to
God and to our loyal friends who supported children learning community
activities in Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi throughout October 2017.
Mrs Tjandra, Mrs Lanny, Mrs Vera, Novi, Rachel, Mrs Ruth, and big sister Debby accompanied the
Sarang Tupai’s children on their study. Meanwhile big sister Ari, big sister Yana, Mrs Mar’ah, big brother Amad, and big sister Debby accompanied the
Cakung’s children.
In Sarang Tupai, Ciawi, children usually enjoy their activities on the
terrace. During rainy day, the learning activity moves to the inside of the
house.
In the beginning of October 2017, Sarang Tupai’s mothers learned to make
Tekwan and Pempek, Palembang’s foods. Ardi’s mother, one of Sarang Tupai’s
children, who also familiar with Palembang foods, taught other mothers making
the foods. Ardi’s mother works as a villa attendant in the area.
Children enjoyed the homemade food after learning.
The mothers had planned to take turn teaching each other foods from their
home town.
The mothers were coming from many parts of Indonesia such as Ambon, Manado,
Palembang and West Java.
Cakung’s
community was busied making Rosario, prayer beads. The Rosario handicraft was
ordered by our loyal donors, big sister Angie and her friends.
We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who
relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning
program.
We experienced
two major events in the community. We gave our attention not only to the
children, but also to the community. We constantly remember the community in
our thought and prayer.
In the
beginning of October 2017, together, we celebrated Mrs. Lanny’s daughter
wedding in Jakarta. Mrs. Lanny is one of Sarang Tupai’s parents. At the end of October 2017, we accompanied Mrs
Sutini through the process of tumor removal of her daughter Nia at East Jakarta
hospital. Mrs. Sutini and Nia lives in Cakung.
At the end
of October 2017, we also experienced the absence of big brother Amad who got
involved in a motorcyle accident. For several weeks, we asked him to take a
break from teaching at Cakung.
This October,
we accomplished our target in registering all the 2017 library collection. We
also finished reregistering the previous year’s collection.
We
appreciated the helps from library administrators for taking care of our
library books.
This month, we also paid off all recipients’ monthly school fee. There were
some students who did their school payment for September and October 2017.
Besides
school fee and daily transportation, the recipients
also received fund for stationaries, and photocopies.
We thanked our
dearest friend who dedicated their financial resources for this scholarship
program. Your financial
assistance will bring tremendous impact in these children’s future.
Throughout
October 2017, we prepared various healthy food for Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s
children, such as cookies; mango slices; corns melted with condense milk and cheese; fried
rice; lollipop ice cream; soft bread deep in green bean porridge; slices of
papaya; crunchy fried noodle in a round pan; slices of guava fruit; dried fried
spinach prepared by Sarang Tupai’s mother; snake fruit; tekwan, fishcake soup;
pempek, fried fishcake; breadfruit crackers; and slices of steam breadfruit.
We thank Mrs.
Tjandra for preparing healthy menu for Sarang Tupai’s children. Mrs Tjandra
also prepared the ingredients for cooking class. She trained Sarang Tupai’s
mothers to cook some healthy menus.
We also
express our gratitude to the facilitators and the community of Cakung and
Sarang Tupai who helped us with preparing healthy dishes throughout October 2017.
Throughout
October 2017, we held the Kartini basic food cooperative activity after children
learning session. During that time, cooperative coordinators went out to
purchase the necessary items.
On the
closing of October 2017, the cooperative coordinators counted and booked the
inventories. Based on this counting, the coordinators will arrange the next
purchase.
As usual,
each member held their duty such as collecting money for September’s payment,
writing down members’ purchase and recording inventory.
Some mothers
weighted rice and others served members who purchase their food needs at
cooperative.
The
cooperative also lure some neighborhood nonmembers to shop.
Month to
month, we urge the nonmembers to be in the cooperative. The cooperative could
have easily helped them with their grocery needs.
We thank
Mrs. Martini, Mrs. Fonny Halim, and the PABT mothers for their loyal assistance coordinating
this program.
We ask for
your pray, so that this program will continue and will be beneficial to the
community.
