Dear friends,
To our Moeslem’s friends:
Happy Eid Mubarak 1438 Hijriah.
Our deepest sorry for any wrongdoings,
kindly ask for your forgiveness.
We are grateful to
God and to our loyal friends who supported the activity of children learning
community in Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi throughout June 2017.
Mrs. Tjandra, Mrs. Lanny, Mrs. Vera, Rachel, and Novi accompanied the Sarang Tupai’s children on their study. Meanwhile in
Cakung, big sister Jessica, Ari, Intan, Mrs Mar’ah, big brother Diki, and big sister Debby accompanied the Cakung’s
children.
During the
Moeslem’s fasting month, Cakung students tend to stay home. In the beginning of
June, some of Elementary and Middle School students also took their final
exams. In the other hand, Sarang Tupai’s students were quiet eager to use learning
facility.
Some of our
Moeslem facilitators were also prefer to stay home during fasting month. We had
big sister Jessica assisted us. She chose to fill her time during school break
with us. She helped us with teaching and library tasks.
Sarang Tupai’s
children preferred to be at the learning facility. They used the facility to
prepare themselves for exams. Even during holidays, after the exams, the
children still wanted to continue to learn and play with other children.
During fasting
month, we began at the later hour than usual. Both Cakung and Sarang Tupai,
Ciawi’s children used their time to learn until closed to breakfasting time at
dusk.
In the middle of
June 2017, some facilitators and a few Cakung’s residences learned to make bar
soap. Credit Union Bererod Gratia sponsored this
kind of workshop to public.
Bar soaps are
essential for bathing and facial cleaning. The ingredients to make bar soaps
are not difficult to find. It just takes quiet sometimes to dry the cast liquid
soaps under the sun.
Workshop was
conducted on Saturday morning and ended around noon. Therefore, all Cakung’s
participants could go back earlier to continue assisting the children. The
facilitators did their usual chores with the children. And after that, they
even had time to help the parents in preparing healthy food for nutrition
program.
During school
holidays, Rachel and Novi, the scholarship
recipients, helped us as fulltime facilitators.
We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who
relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning
program.
We thank big
sister Jessica for helping us during her school break.
The students of
Elementary, Middle and Vocational High School were having their final exams in
the beginning of June. Soon after, they received report cards in the middle of
June. All students in both Cakung and Sarang
Tupai passed their finals. They all continued to the next level.
Throughout May 2017 until the
next two months, we focus on reregister library collections and cleaning up
book cases.
Throughout June 2017, library
activities ran as usual. Children used the library during school holidays.
Every week, big sister Ari and Jessica assisted on library activity.
We thanked them for their
diligent effort in taking care of library books.
The June
2017’s expenses include school fees for all scholarship’s participants from
Elementary to Vocational High School level. Other expenses were routine school
transportation and exam fee for a Vocational High School recipient.
We are
grateful to our friends who continuously provide their financial support for
this scholarship program. This scholarship’s support is extremely valuable for
the children’s future.
For breakfasting, we prepared
healthy menu for both Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children. The menu included cookies,
snake fruits, chocolate milk pudding,
fruit punch, fried banana, fried corn, boiled cassava with soybean chili dip
and gomak noodle, the traditional Bataknese delicatessen.
The Sarang Tupai’s children
enjoyed their breakfasting meal after studying. Healthy menu include fruit
punch, fried banana and cassava with soybean chili dip.
During fasting month, most the
students in Cakung were small children. They just learned to fast for half a
day. The children still enjoyed the healthy menu in the afternoon before
breakfasting time.
We also
express our gratitude to the facilitators and the community of Cakung and
Sarang Tupai who helped us with making healthy dishes throughout June 2017.
