Dear friends,
We are grateful to
God and to our loyal friends who supported the activity of children learning
community in Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi throughout August 2017.
Mrs Tjandra, Mrs Lanny, Mrs Vera, Rachel, Mrs Ruth, big brother Agus, and big sister Debby accompanied the
Sarang Tupai’s children on their study. Meanwhile big sister Ari, big sister Yana, Mrs Mar’ah, Indri, and big sister Debby accompanied the Cakung’s
children.
Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children celebrated the Indonesia’s
Independence Day with fun games. At that
day, we also had 2nd quarter evaluation for the children.
The Sarang Tupai’s children enjoyed the games and did their evaluation on
Monday at the 21st August 2017
The evaluation was in form of quizzes. All children need to take these
quizzes. We prepared three different set of questions.
Children are evaluated on general knowledge, mathematics and chosen
national anthem. Children memorized the assign
national anthem and sang it in front of the class.
All children and mothers participated in independent day fun games.
Children had a good time doing hands free shrimp crackers eating competition,
transporting marble with biting spoon, dancing with balloon, running inside empty gunny sack and chain
message.
Small children also participated in transporting marble with holding spoon
and shrimp crackers competition.
Mrs Tjandra, big sister Yanti, big brother Agus, big sister Rachel assisted the
games as judges. They also helped by Fitri, Aulia,
Neldi and big sister Debby.
Children enjoyed their fun games while their mothers participated in fried
rice cooking competition.
Six mothers participated. They were divided into three groups.
After being judge, everyone had a chance to taste the entry fried rice.
The entries fried rice was not only judged Mrs Tjandra, big sister Debby, and big sister Yanti but also some
appointed children.
After lunch, we distributed presents to the winners.
Everyone really enjoyed the program. Some mothers even saw participating in
both cooking competition and gunny sack running competition.
We thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who
relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning
program.
We thank Mrs Tjandra and big sister Yanti for preparing the game’s prizes
such as writing tablets, pens and sharpeners.
The Cakung’s Children enjoyed competing games and did their 2nd
quarter evaluation on Saturday at the 26st August 2017
The program that day began with 2nd quarter children evaluation.
Children in all categories were tested.
Big sister Ari, Mrs Mar’ah, and Yana supervised the
evaluation for children in category 0, 1 and 2. Meanwhile big sister Debby
supervised the evaluation of children in category 3 and 4.
The test included competency in reading, writing and counting. Children
were also tested for their ability to stand and properly introduce themselves
in Indonesian and English. They also
tested in their ability to memorize the national anthem and five state
principles, Pancasila.
After testing, children were guided by facilitators to the game spot, the
empty lot in Jakarta Garden City housing compound. These areas were used to be
vegetable garden where their parents made a living.
We used the vacant road and land for games such as hands free shrimp
crackers eating competition, insert nail to bottle, insert decoration flag to
bottle, transport marbles with biting spoon and chain messages.
In the afternoon, after fun and games, children went back and enjoyed
snacks and juice. The snacks were prepared by Mrs Hasnah, a Cakung’s mother.
The papaya and orange punch were prepared by facilitators and some Cakung’s
mother.
Because it was already dark, we postponed the prize distribution until the
beginning of September 2017.
Once again, we thank facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who
relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning
program.
We thank Mrs Fonny Halim, Mrs Martini and the community of PABT for their
kindness providing the Cakung’s children with writing tablets.
In the
beginning of August 2017, Mrs Novie prepared a cooking class for Cakung’s
mother.
Cakung
mothers participated in cooking class on Tuesday, 8th of August
2017. They were divided into three groups.
Mothers
learned three recipes that day. The recipes were potatoes donut, chicken
porridge and éclair pastry.
Mothers
were very enthusiast with this program. We provide this program for mothers who
want to be in food business.
Mrs Novie
and the community of PABT provide food ingredients and recipe sheets for
Cakung’s participants.
We thank
Mrs Novie and the community of PABT for their faithful dedication supporting
our program.
We hope
for your continuous support. We pray for your health and wellbeing. We pray to
God that your loyal effort, kindness and faithful to us will be blessed.
The
library activity was run as usual. It will take some times for us to register many
of new coming 2017 book collections.
We were in
debt to all our diligent staff that relentlessly cared for our library.
For August’s scholarship program, some recipients received fund for school
registration, text books and uniforms.
We tried
hard to be consistent in providing them with text books, school supplies, shoes
and uniforms. Besides that, we also provided them with monthly school fee and
transportation.
We thanked our
dearest friend who dedicate their financial resources for this scholarship
program. Your financial
assistance will have valuable impact for the future of these children.
Throughout
August 2017, we prepared healthy food in Cakung and Sarang Tupai. The food was
crackers, éclair, donut, oranges, guava, chicken porridge, fried rice,
jackfruit and mix papaya and orange punch.
During the
evaluation and games day, we prepared fried rice, watermelon, croquette and mix
papaya and orange punch for Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children.
After
learning from Mrs Novie, the Cakung’s mothers tried to make the éclair and
chicken porridge by themselves.
In the
process of making éclair, the dough was not properly prepared. To salvage the
dough, the mothers turn them into donut. The donuts were sprinkle with
chocolate, nuts and cheese.
In the
photos, we only saw a few good éclairs because the children ate the
unsuccessful eclairs right away.
Mothers
were challenge to make perfect éclair. In other hand mothers were very
successful in making chicken porridge.
We were
happy to see the children enjoyed eating chicken porridge which was made by
mothers and facilitators.
We also
express our gratitude to the facilitators and the community of Cakung and
Sarang Tupai who helped us with making healthy dishes throughout August 2017.
We thank Mrs
Tjandra who assisted Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children with healthy diet,
such as: oranges, watermelon and several fried rice ingredients.
We held the
Cakung’s cooperative effort in the first week of August 2017 after learning
session. The cooperative effort who called “Kartini” consisted of eleven women
as members. We shared duties. Indri
involved in administration and finance matter. Big sister Ari prepared member
shopping notes. Mrs Mar’ah supervised and listed available supplies. Other
mothers separated and weighted the food, such as rice and eggs.
Many of our
member felt the benefit of cooperative effort “Kartini”. We were thrilled that
the cooperative effort could provide basic staple for their member. For candidate who would like to join the
cooperative effort but did not have 250,000 IDR to start with, we gave them
light installment. They can pay the startup fee to us in several times.
We tried to
accommodate the community needs. We would like to register more people in the coming
months.

We are
grateful to our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials
for this month.
We
are deeply touched by many of our donors’ generosity who put others before
themselves. We truly appreciate your trust in our effort.
Closed to the ninth month of the year, we are still short on fulfilling our
operational budget. We kept on pressing to give our best to the children and
community.
We humbly ask for your kindness and continuous financial support.
Several programs
and activities need to be developed sooner. Sarang Tupai’s facility need to be
renovated which include custom storage area for books and learning
equipment. We truly need your
financial supports and materials.
