Progress Report of Children Learning Community in November 2017

Dear friends,

We are grateful to God and to our loyal friends who supported children learning community activities in Cakung and Sarang Tupai, Ciawi throughout November 2017. 

Mrs. Lanny, Ms. Vera, Novi, Rachel, Mrs. Ruth, and big sister Debby accompanied the Sarang Tupai’s children on their study. Meanwhile big sister Ari, big sister Yana, Mrs. Mar’ah, and big sister Debby accompanied the Cakung’s children.

At the end of the year, the mothers and young girls created festive theme materials out of recycle coffee packs for their skill activities. The Ciawi’s community baked festive cookies for sale. They made chocolate chips cookies, cheese sticks, pineapple fill cookies and cheese fill cookies, sesame cookies, cornflakes cookies and cheese sago cookies. The cookies were sold about 60,000 to 100,000 IDR. Selling price was established after calculating production cost and margin.

The Cakung’s mothers also made facial bar soaps. They learned soap making from Credit Union Bererod Gratia.

We thanked facilitators, volunteers and surrounding community who relentlessly gave their time, efforts, finances and place for this learning program.

We were happy to establish ourselves in the community. Throughout November, we faced many ups and downs together. We gave our outmost service to the community and constantly remember them in our prayer. 

Big sister Mala gave birth to a baby boy this month. She was helping the community’s children along with big sister Yana.

We welcome the newborn. We pray for stronger baby and healthier mother.  

In the middle of November, Yuli’s home was caught on fire. Yuli is in the age range as big sister Mala and Yana. Some section of house such as the living room, kitchen and bathroom were totally burned down. 

Fire started from burned insecticide coil. The family has been using burned coil which produced insecticide fume to get rid of mosquitoes. The wall of the house was made of flammable woven layers of outer tree trunks and bamboos. No casualties occurred that day.   

Although it was only a back section of the house, the family lost all of their clothing items and many of their belongings.  

We felt their lost and immediately assist them.

In the beginning of the month, on Friday at the 1^st of December, we commemorated big sister Sarah’s birthday.

Cakung’s children gathered and prayed. Prayer leaded by big brother Amad and Yana.

We enjoyed meal together. Meal was donated from big sister Sarah’s family and prepared by Cakung’s mothers.

We celebrated the late big sister Sarah’s birthday on Friday at the 1^st of December 2017 during state holiday here.

After meal, we distributed snack, milk and school supplies to the children.

We prayed for the resting peace of big sister Sarah. We were grateful for the care and support of big sister Sarah Laftavi’s family.

 

We hope for further work together. 

This month, the scholarship recipients received monthly school fee.

Besides providing monthly school fee and daily transportation, we also provided the children with uniforms and monthly activity fees.

We thanked our dearest friend who dedicated their financial resources for this scholarship program. Your financial assistance will bring tremendous impact in these children’s future.

Throughout November 2017,we prepared various healthy food for Cakung’s and Sarang Tupai’s children, such as cookies, mango fruit, meatloaves, snake fruit and longan fruit.

This time of the year, there were lots of mangoes everywhere. We took advantages of this harvest seasons. Children enjoyed mangoes fruits several times this month.

We expressed our gratitude to the facilitators and the community of Cakung and Sarang Tupai who prepared healthy dishes throughout November 2017.

In November 2017, Kartini basic food cooperative activities were held after children learning session. The Cooperative coordinators went out to purchase the necessary items.

As usual, each member held their duty such as deposit October 2017’s collection, writing down deposit’s records, writing purchase lists and inventories.

To anticipate price increased at the end of the year, we listed more items to buy. We planned to spend less in December.

We thank Mrs. Martini and the PABT mothers for their loyal assistance coordinating this program.

We ask for your prayer for this program. It will run continuously and will bring many benefits to the community.

3.                Basic Food Cooperative Effort

Purchase low stock food items.

4.                Birthday celebrations for a donor on Friday, 1^st of December and Monday, 4^th of December 2017.

5.                Christmas celebration for Sarang Tupai’s Children on Saturday, the 9^th of December 2017.

6. Christmas lunch for Sarang Tupai’s Children on December 26th, 2017 and for Cakung’s Children on December 28th, 2017.

We are grateful to our friends for their support in prayers, finances, efforts and materials for this month.

We are deeply touched by many of our donors’ generosity who put others before themselves. We truly appreciate your trust in our effort.
